Harry Would 'Love' More Time With Charles During UK Visit — but Timing Isn't on His Side

Prince Harry wants to meet King Charles again, but the monarch's tightly planned schedule presents a major challenge.

Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK this month for a court case and would allegedly ‘love’ to spend more time with his father, King Charles. While he has high hopes for a possible reconciliation, the monarch’s busy timetable may prove to be a major obstacle. Sources close to the 41-year-old suggest that following their successful meeting last September, tensions have cooled drastically. Even so, the timing of the trip may make a father-and-son reunion extremely difficult.

Harry last saw his father in September 2025 when the two privately met at Clarence House for about 50 minutes before the Duke stepped out to attend other engagements. As per GB News, sources close to the Prince suggest the meeting meant a great deal for Harry, who “genuinely loved” seeing his father, hoping to make such visits more frequent. The same source opined, “He wants to do more of that. He always loves seeing his father and would love to see him as much as possible.” Following the sit-down, the Duke admitted that he’s now ‘closer’ to bringing his family back to the UK, highlighting the positive impact it had on their relationship.

While Harry allegedly wants to act upon that wish, Charles is said to have reservations. As long as the Duke remains entangled in legal proceedings, the monarch is said to be maintaining a safe distance from his son. Harry will be visiting his homeland in the coming weeks to appear in a court case against Associated Newspapers Limited, the owner of the Daily Mail, over alleged privacy violations. His barrister, David Sherborne, has asked all the claimants to be present as a show of unity. While Harry is expected to do just that, his father will be spending much of January at his Scottish residence, making a reunion between the two highly unlikely.

Previously, sources close to the Palace have suggested that the father-son duo might reunite eventually, but Charles is not entirely on board with the plan. Writing for the Daily Mail, royal expert Rebecca English observed that while the King wishes no ‘ill’ for his son, he is still ‘pained’ by the circumstances of their estrangement. She added that the monarch “remains extremely 'wary' of welcoming him back, given events of the past few years.” With Harry all set to win back his taxpayer-funded security while in the UK, it remains to be seen whether a legal victory will pave the way for a reunion or drive him and his father further apart.

Although Harry might not score a meeting with his father this time, he is allegedly planning an olive branch offer to Charles. As per The Sun, it is said that the Duke of Sussex is offering the monarch a special role at the Invictus Games when it returns to the UK in 2027. If his plans take shape, then the two could jointly appear at the opening ceremony at the NEC in Birmingham. “Prince Harry desperately wants Charles at Invictus - and he wants him to open the games alongside him,” a source told the outlet, also adding, “Harry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.” Whether King Charles will say yes to this offer or not remains to be seen.
