Prince Harry Finally Meets King Charles After 19 Months — and Shares Rare Update on Dad's Health

Prince Harry and King Charles have finally reunited after over 19 months, signaling a positive step toward healing their long-standing rift. Amid reports that the father and son would reconcile during the Duke’s trip to London, on September 10, Harry was seen arriving by car at Clarence House at 5:20 pm to meet the King. Following the meeting, Buckingham Palace and the Duke's spokesperson confirmed that Charles and Harry had met for private tea. The Duke was seen leaving the residence after approximately an hour.

Harry and Charles had last met in February after the King was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer. The Duke of Sussex landed on September 8 in London to attend the WellChild Awards, a charity for seriously ill children, before heading to Nottingham. Meanwhile, Charles was in Balmoral, Scotland, to mark the Ascension anniversary, the day he became King following Queen Elizabeth’s death. The following day, the father and son touched down in London again, with Harry visiting Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies.

Harry hinted at his upcoming meet-up with Charles while greeting fans who were waiting outside Imperial College. Shaking hands and snapping selfies, he excused himself by saying, "I have to go, I’m so late… I’ve got to go, I’ve got to go. Nice to meet you guys." Meanwhile, Charles was seen boarding a plane in Scotland to reunite with his son. After meeting Harry, the King hosted an investiture ceremony for Manfred Goldberg, honoring him for his Holocaust education efforts. Later, he received Peter Malinauskas, the Premier of South Australia. The Duke had previously visited London for the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary in May 2024, when Charles was hosting an engagement only a few miles away, though those events didn’t result in a meetup.

Shortly after their reunion, Harry gave a rare update on his father’s health during a special reception for the Invictus Games. When a reporter asked how Charles was, he replied, "Yes, he’s great, thank you." The Invictus Games Foundation hosted Invictus Horizons at the iconic Gherkin, where the Duke met with supporters, partners, and community members. He said in a statement, "This is what Invictus does best: it catalyses change. It shows what is possible when courage is met with opportunity, and when recovery is supported by respect and community...Because as proud as I am of our first decade, I know the next decade matters even more."
