Harry Is ‘Comfortable’ as a House Husband and Only ‘Tolerates’ Hollywood for Meghan: Source
Meghan Markle's strong desire to return to her acting roots have reportedly taken a toll on Prince Harry.
Prince Harry has always been vocal about wanting a more private life, away from constant press intrusion. After stepping down as a senior royal alongside Meghan Markle in 2020, he embraced life as a stay-at-home dad, quietly supporting his wife's ambitions. However, according to sources, Markle's strong pull toward showbiz and her desire to return to her acting roots have reportedly taken a toll on Harry. It appears the Duke of Sussex is not particularly fond of the Hollywood scene and only tolerates it occasionally for the sake of his wife.
Speaking to OK! magazine, insiders pulled the curtains on Harry's alleged dilemma, as he is stuck between supporting his wife and choosing his sanity. A source clarified that the Prince, in many ways, was '100 percent a house husband,' and is comfortable with his role in the marriage. They continued, "He [Harry] genuinely dislikes the Hollywood circuit. Premieres, networking dinners, industry parties – that is not his natural habitat. He tolerates it for Meghan's sake, but it drains him. He would much rather be at home in Montecito than circulating in a ballroom full of executives." His close friends stressed that the Duke's upbringing in the royal family allegedly left him conflicted about being in the public eye.
Additionally, insiders highlighted the contrast between Harry and Markle's priorities in their marriage. A source spilled, "Meghan thrives in the entertainment world. She understands branding, production, and visibility. She is the breadwinner, and she is comfortable in that role...He [Harry] is focused on being present for his children." Despite the Duke's limited public appearances, his pals reject the idea that he is adrift. Weighing in on the same, one argued, "For Harry, success now is a quiet dinner at home, a surf session at dawn, or reading a bedtime story. That is the life he fought to create."
Previously, sources have made similar claims about Harry being unhappy about Markle's potential return to acting. An insider told OK! magazine, "Harry wants to back Meghan, but the speed of her ambitions has really thrown him." Another echoed, "He never thought their California life would turn out this way, with Meghan charging into the spotlight while he concentrates on his charitable work." Those close to the Sussexes also alleged that the Duke's discomfort stemmed less from his wife's alleged ambitions and more from the surprise shift away from their once quieter and low-key life in Montecito.
If Markle were to reenter Hollywood, insiders stressed that it would only be to stabilize the royal couple's finances. A production insider dished, "The role might be minor, but it gives her something to build on. Meghan realizes the big paychecks aren't a sure thing now, so she's viewing this as a fresh start." Another added, "She views it as a lifeline – a chance to take back control of her story in Hollywood, and she doesn't care what it does to Harry or their marriage."
