Harriet Sperling Reflects Kate Middleton’s New Bride Era Through One Common Factor
Harriet Sperling shares a lot of commonalities with Kate Middleton, but she served as a reminder of the latter's 2011 wedding due to one peculiar reason.
Kate Middleton and Harriet Sperling have a lot in common. Neither of them was born into the aristocracy, but both managed to make an instant mark on royal fans. And now, the two share a common wedding theme as well, and it’s through their incredible sartorial choices.
In 2011, Middleton stunned the world when she arrived at Westminster Abbey in a beautiful Alexander McQueen gown. Her now-iconic dress featured intricate lace detailing and a V-neck that was a break from how royal wedding gowns were designed. And now, 15 years later, Sperling became the next royal bride to wear a lace wedding gown on her special day. When Sperling walked the aisle at All Saints Church on Saturday, she opted for an Emily Wickstead lace column gown with a high neck. Much like the then-Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown, Sperling’s dress also featured detailed lacework. Certainly, this dress will go down in history, just like Middleton’s did.
When the now-Princess of Wales tied the knot with Prince William, she brought a refreshing energy to the royal family. She seemed to have the entire world in a chokehold with her fashion statements, which she continues to serve even today, creating a phenomenon best described as ‘The Kate Effect’. And now a similar trend as followed Harriet Sperling, who on Saturday, officially became a part of the monarchy after marrying Peter Phillips.
“We're already seeing a lot of similarities between Harriet and Princess Kate. Both women are impeccably well-dressed, and Harriet is becoming popular for championing British brands, such as Beulah (at Easter) and Suzannah London (Royal Ascot and Wimbledon),” royal expert Eleanor Dye said via Hello! She further added that there definitely would be “an influx of people seeking to recreate the 'Harriet look' after the royal wedding”.
One of the other things that the Princess of Wales and Sperling have in common is their signature locks. While her long brown hair had always been one of Middleton's most admired features, it seems royal fans have taken a similar fancy to Sperling's blonde tresses. “Ahead of (Middleton's) marriage to Prince William, hairdressers reported dozens of women coming in and asking for the 'Kate Middleton', and it's easy to see why Harriet would also inspire hair envy,” Dye mentioned.
Over the years, Middleton has solidified her place in the royal family as one of their strongest assets. And, Sperling might follow suit. "A new member of the royal family always sparks intrigue, but Harriet has appeared such a natural from day one," Dye said.
