King Charles and Prince Harry are allegedly not on speaking terms, despite the latter’s public plea for reconciliation. Harry, in his BBC interview last month, admitted that his father is ignoring his phone calls. While their rift deepened after Harry’s explosive revelations since his royal exit, the Duke, in his memoir, Spare, detailed that his relationship with his father had always been distant growing up.

Harry was allegedly once also reduced to 'tears' by a 'cruel' move by Charles. He and Meghan Markle were gifted their Frogmore Cottage home by the late Queen Elizabeth upon their marriage. The couple used the cottage as their permanent home until they stepped down as working senior royals and moved to the US. However, according to Royal Insider, in 2023, after Charles acceded to the throne, he asked the Sussexes to vacate the Grade II property in Windsor Castle. The sovereign’s order came after the release of Spare, in which the Prince made many controversial claims about his family. In a statement confirming the monarch’s decision, a Sussexes spokesperson announced at the time, “We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”

According to royal author Tom Quinn, Harry was left 'in tears' by his father’s decision. Quinn told The Mirror, “Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore. He felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive.” Quinn added how Harry “couldn’t see that choosing to stop being a working royal would inevitably mean being deprived of his royal residence.” The Duke, as per the author, took the harsh decision as a ‘cruel rejection’. He penned, “Harry took it as a cruel rejection. A painful reminder of all that he felt when his father fought with his mother during their long, drawn-out, painful divorce.” Quinn further asserted, “Whenever Charles puts his foot down, it seems unfair to Harry, who feels that after everything that has happened to him, he should always get whatever he wants, whether that be security paid for by the British taxpayer or a luxurious UK home.”

Charles, who was looking to evict Prince Andrew from his lavish Royal Lodge, offered the more modest Frogmore Cottage to his brother. However, the Duke of York allegedly turned down the offer. Property expert Robin Edwards told GB News that Charles wanted Andrew to downsize his residence and move to the cottage, which is why he also cut his annual funding. Edwards explained, “However, he [Andrew] has refused to leave his lavish mansion and move to the significantly smaller Frogmore Cottage, believing it to be not grand enough for him.”

Meanwhile, Harry and Markle, since leaving Frogmore, now own a lavish mansion in the Montecito neighbourhood in Los Angeles, California. The couple bought the multi-million-dollar property upon their move to the US.
