Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s eviction from Royal Lodge is happening sooner than anticipated, but not without its fair share of scrutiny. As the disgraced royal prepares to vacate his Grade II-listed property after almost two decades, the focus has now shifted to another issue that might be of interest to Prince William and Prince Harry. As per reports, heaps of old papers have been discovered in the 30-room estate, with a royal expert suggesting that the stash might contain letters from the late Princess Diana. The princes, who are extremely keen to protect their mother’s legacy, are allegedly on high alert after this revelation.

Stripped of his remaining titles and honors, Mountbatten-Windsor is currently packing his bags for a smaller residence on the King’s Sandringham Estate. He is said to be moving to Marsh Farm, a five-bedroom property that is currently being renovated as per his needs. While the move might take place before his 66th birthday, another discovery has allegedly put William and Harry closely monitoring the situation. As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, royal editor Ephraim Hardcastle said that a huge pile of letters belonging to the Queen Mother has been unearthed “among the mountains of Andrew’s paperwork stored haphazardly in cupboards.”

The Queen Mother lived at Royal Lodge for five decades until she died in 2002, after which the residence was leased to the disgraced royal. The discovery of her correspondence at a residence she had occupied for 50 years came as no surprise; however, it has raised hopes that some of the letters could be from Diana. As per insiders, the former Duke is allegedly destroying his own paperwork, but the letters of the Queen Mother have been sent to the Royal Archive. But when it comes to any possible letters by the late Princess of Wales, William and Harry might be interested in safeguarding the same, especially from their uncle.

Previously, reports have suggested that the disgraced royal and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, are trying to turn Royal Lodge into a ‘pawn shop,’ a situation that had left Buckingham Palace ‘unsettled.’ As per The Express, the main point of concern was private letters and jewelry, with legal experts focusing on whether the items belonged to the Crown or could be claimed as personal belongings by the former Duke and Duchess of York. Fearing an immediate fallout, officials are said to be keeping close tabs on the matter, blocking the auction of anything linked to royal heritage. “The appearance of even a single item would trigger immediate and widespread fallout,” a source opined.

The insider continued, “But Andrew and Sarah seem intent on turning the Lodge into some sort of pawn shop source by collecting together goods they think they can auction off to the highest bidder.” They also had a word of caution, suggesting that if the couple is indeed planning to sell royal items, then their royal life could end in the most ‘volatile’ way possible. “Senior royals always expected the break with Andrew to be difficult, but not on this scale,” the source told the outlet. Reportedly, Ferguson was planning to sell off her correspondence with Diana. Another source told The International News that “Sarah has held onto everything. Her wedding keepsakes, correspondence, gifts, especially letters from Diana that she considers priceless.”
