William and Kate's Upcoming Tour is Making Headlines ― and Meghan May Not Be Too Happy
The royal rift is crossing the Atlantic once again. It’s been six years since Meghan Markle said goodbye to the Palace life for sunny California, yet she still generates headlines on both sides of the pond. This time, however, the matter also involves Prince William and Princess Kate, whose upcoming tour of the United States has apparently left the Duchess of Sussex seething. The Prince and Princess of Wales’ US visit is said to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. While it’s been seen as a strategic masterstroke by the monarchy, it has Markle ‘crippled with jealousy.’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working royals and left the UK in 2020. Since then, they have largely ‘dominated’ the American narrative through their many media deals and philanthropic efforts. However, the Duchess apparently fears that with William and Kate’s upcoming tour, the spotlight will again shift back to the Waleses, who have long been seen as a stable force for the monarchy. According to a Palace source, as reported by OK!, the alleged trip is a deliberate effort to reassert the institution’s standing. “William and Catherine represent stability… and officials believe their presence will naturally shift attention back in their direction without the need for confrontation,” the insider opined.
While the Prince and Princess of Wales’ main focus is said to be on diplomacy, insiders suggest that Markle is feeling the pressure of being sidelined in her own turf. Tensions have reportedly reached a fever pitch behind closed doors, with the Duchess of Sussex constantly feeling ‘overshadowed.’ The insider alleged, “Meghan has made it clear behind closed doors that she feels constantly overshadowed and is deeply frustrated by repeatedly being eclipsed whenever William and Catherine step into the public eye.” As per the source, Markle is “crippled with jealousy and rage, as she knows they will be the center of positive headlines in the States she can only dream of.”
Adding more fuel to the fire are reports involving the political elite. President Donald Trump is reportedly planning a $300 million White House ballroom for the Independence Day celebrations and has personally invited William and Kate. Notably, as insiders knowing the matter suggest, Trump has no plans of extending an invitation to Harry and Markle, further removing the couple from top-tier diplomatic circles. The US president allegedly ignoring the Sussexes doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given how they have locked horns several times in the past. But still, the couple is said to be deeply unhappy.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, however, allegedly insist they are not interested in a PR war and are operating with a clear goal. “At this stage, William and Catherine are operating with a clear sense of purpose and shared resolve," one palace insider said, also adding, “They are aligned in their thinking and focused on stability, leaving little tolerance for distractions or disorder, whether that stems from unresolved family issues or continued tensions with Harry and Meghan.”
