Why Princess Beatrice and Eugenie Could Be Affected by William’s Plans for the Monarchy

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are already aware that some long-standing royal arrangements may not survive once it’s time for William to become King.

In the royal family, change is the only true constant. Most of the royal fans often remain curious about what Prince William’s future reign might look like and what new changes it could bring with it. While King Charles is already overseeing a slimmed-down monarchy, reports have come to light suggesting Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie know that long-standing traditions may vanish once their cousin ascends the throne. This very shift could have significant implications for the York sisters, irrespective of their continued presence at major family events.

At the heart of these concerns are royal housing arrangements. As per Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, sources have suggested that Beatrice and Eugenie understand that the privileged accommodation arrangements they have benefited from as members of the extended Royal Family may come under strict review in a William-led monarchy. Although neither sister is a working royal, both maintain close ties to the institution and make regular appearances at major family events—most recently attending Peter Phillips’s wedding. Insiders report that William is determined to implement a streamlined approach, one that strictly prioritizes working royals and draws a sharp line between public duties and private family life.

This speculation comes amid fierce scrutiny of royal finances and housing perks. Recent reports underscore the divide within the family: working royals get accommodations tied to their official roles, while non-working members do not. Because public accountability is now a central debate for the monarchy, any changes William makes down the road will inevitably be viewed through the lens of transparency and modernization.

Beatrice and Eugenie continue to hold a warm place in the royal fold. Alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate, the sisters are always out in full force for major celebrations—including the Sandringham Easter service, the annual Christmas luncheon, and most recently, Peter Phillips's wedding. They have maintained these close, amicable ties with the rest of the family despite the cloud of controversy surrounding their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and the constant rumors regarding their royal standing.

For now, any changes remain speculative, as Prince William has not publicly outlined how his future reign will affect extended members of the Royal Family. However, as discussions continue about the monarchy's long-term direction, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are increasingly viewed as part of the broader debate over what a streamlined royal institution could look like in the years ahead.
