Princess Eugenie Remains Supportive of Sarah Ferguson Despite Refusing Major Request
Princess Eugenie reportedly drew the line with Sarah Ferguson ahead of her UK comeback.
If reports are to be believed, Sarah Ferguson is ending her exile and returning to the UK soon after staying abroad for an extended period. The former Duchess of York has been avoiding the media after her name surfaced in connection with the Epstein scandal, along with her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Ferguson was last seen living in the Austrian Alps and Switzerland. According to HELLO!, she is "not believed" to have met her granddaughter, Adelaide, who was born on 3 August 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal, despite sharing an extremely close bond with her daughter Princess Eugenie. A royal author suggests that there could be ongoing issues between the mother and daughter, especially since Princess Eugenie denied a special request some time back.
Ferguson reportedly sought help from Eugenie, but the latter allegedly declined her request. Although Eugenie warmly welcomed her mother to Portugal, Ferguson's plea for further assistance was turned down. According to royal biographer Andrew Lownie, Ferguson "at one stage was pleading to be given a free run of the secluded Portuguese home," suggesting she wanted a free pass. However, that's where her daughter firmly drew the line. Lownie explained: "That was a request too far for the Brooksbanks, who have no wish to see their bolthole under siege from paparazzi." Furthermore, the royal author claimed that Ferguson's highly anticipated comeback to the UK was intentional, suggesting the former duchess was aware of the Sussexes' travel plans, potentially through information gathered by her daughter, Eugenie.
Lownie also alleged that Ferguson may have visited Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, at their Portuguese residence following her granddaughter's birth. He further highlighted that Beatrice and Eugenie's respective husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank, "don't want their reputations and earnings tainted by association with Andrew and Sarah and are pushing for their wives to distance themselves from their parents." In February, Ferguson was evicted from Royal Lodge following the controversy surrounding Mountbatten-Windsor. Following his arrest and release on his 66th birthday, the disgraced royal is currently residing at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate. Meanwhile, Ferguson was seen spending time at a wellness spa in Austria and keeping a low profile in Verbier at a property owned by her late ex-boyfriend, Paddy McNally.
Recent reports indicate that the former Duchess of York will be renting a six-bedroom property in the Home Counties, though the exact location remains undisclosed. Her spokesperson has not confirmed details regarding the residence or her expected return date. Ferguson maintained regular contact with her daughters while overseas and has previously spoken about her joy in being a grandmother, HOLA! reported.
