Royal Reunion? Prince Harry Makes Rare Remark About William During Emotional Outing
It wasn't a reunion—but Harry's brief comment about William has people reading between the lines.
After years of keeping their distance, Prince Harry made a rare public comment about his older brother, Prince William, for the first time, and it has royal watchers wondering if it could be a small sign of hope for the future. While there are often murmurs of Harry's reunion with his father, King Charles, there is rarely ever any glimmer of hope when it comes to his equation with his brother, Prince William, but now things may soon change for the brothers. The Duke of Sussex has had a busy week in the UK, balancing charity engagements with ongoing legal setbacks, but amid all the chaos, he, for the first time in years, talked about his brother.
Harry, during his U.K. tour, decided to visit Birmingham Children's Hospital, where he met young patients and their families. During a conversation with them, the Duke made a brief, five-word remark about William that quickly got royal fans talking. The unexpected moment came as Harry chatted with 12-year-old patient Alec Hill about football. The Duke admitted that he "used to be an Arsenal supporter" before asking Alec which team he followed. When the young boy replied that he supported Aston Villa, Harry smiled and said, "My brother supports Aston Villa."
This simple statement has come a long way since Harry's remark in his 2023 memoir, Spare, where he labelled his brother as his “arch-nemesis” and even detailed their physical brawl. While the brothers are far from cordial at this point, their mention seemed like the beginning of something positive. According to royal commentator Tom Sykes in The Royalist, William and Harry have not spoken since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
Former People editor Dan Wakeford also claimed in his Celebrity Intelligence newsletter that Harry is "desperate" to rebuild the relationship with his brother but no longer has a direct way to contact him. A source told Wakeford, "He sees William blossoming, and he secretly had hoped that William would have more of a struggle and need him. He's been waiting for the call. That would be his dream come true. He regrets leaving."
Whether Harry's brief mention of "my brother" signals anything more than a casual conversation remains unclear. But after years of silence and public criticism, those five words were enough to get royal fans wondering if reconciliation is still a possibility.
On one hand, where Harry's mention of William sparked discussion online, the Prince of Wales, on the other, appeared focused entirely on his own royal duties. During Harry's five-day visit to Britain, William carried out a separate engagement in Hastings, where he met local fishermen, boarded a fishing boat, enjoyed a game of mini-golf, and spent time speaking with members of the community. There was no public acknowledgment of Harry's return to the UK.
