Prince Andrew has once again been embroiled in scandal after a bombshell new book exposed his questionable past and controversial friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York has largely remained under the radar since 2019, following Virginia Giuffre’s claim that he had an illicit relationship with her at 17 while she was trafficked by Epstein. Commenting on his numerous misgivings, royal expert Jennie Bond believes Andrew would be wise to ‘lay low’ and fade into obscurity. She also advised him to quietly obey King Charles and not get on his bad books.

The royal expert opened up about the Duke of York's future in the royal household after his many wrongdoings. She told the Mirror, "His best course of action is to lie low, enjoy the immensely privileged lifestyle he still has, embrace his family life, and do as his brother [King Charles] asks." She added, "If he is still invited to family gatherings, he would do well to forego the protocol of walking in order of precedence and fade quietly into the background." Despite no longer being a working royal, Andrew had joined Charles and other senior royals for their traditional Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel in 2025.

Bond also revealed whether the Prince could be stripped of his royal titles after his controversial past came to light. She explained, "I’m not sure that taking his Dukedom away would serve any great purpose, other than making the King look particularly vindictive, and causing Parliament to spend time on an issue that doesn’t affect the rest of us: MPs surely have better things to do?" To strip Andrew of his titles, Parliament would need to pass legislation to prevent him from continuing as the Duke of York. At the same time, the King could change his birthright to be a Prince, as the son of the late Queen, by issuing a Letters Patent.

Prince Andrew’s reputation took a severe hit since his disgaceful friendship with Epstein came to light. After stepping back from public duties in 2020, he was formally stripped of his royal patronages by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022. Commenting on his ongoing dispute with Charles over Royal Lodge, Bond said, "His brother, the King, has cut off his allowance and his security costs and wants him out of Royal Lodge....But opinion polls continue to show that he is deeply disliked, and the public wants to see him squirm."

Regarding the exposure of Andrew's alleged murky past, royal author Andrew Lownie's book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, offers an investigative account of the Prince and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. Serialized excerpts of the book in the Daily Mail mention that Andrew was notorious for his affairs with nannies behind Ferguson's back and accused the Prince of allegedly making vulgar jokes about women at dinners. The book further alleged that the Duke sustained his lavish lifestyle after the scandal through discreet, under-the-radar activities.
