Royal Expert Reveals Why George, Charlotte, and Louis Won't Repeat a Notorious Royal Tradition
Since Wales' siblings attend the same school, the friendships they make will be entirely natural and drama-free.
Prince William and Prince Harry tricked their friends with the well-known 'Canary Trap' that determined who stayed loyal in their friendship circle. The brothers would notoriously spread false information about their lifestyle among their peers just to check who leaked the news to the press. It was perhaps one of the most ruthless ways to sever years of relationships that threatened their royal existence. However, royal expert Emily Andrews and Reverend Richard Coles throw light on the kind of friendship dynamics the Gen Alpha - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis would follow in their latest podcast episode of Catching Up with The Royals.
"Anyone whom they (William and Harry) deemed to be disloyal would be absolutely eviscerated and cut from the social circle," Andrews revealed.
However, she highlighted that since Wales' siblings attend the same school, the friendships they make will be entirely natural and drama-free. "They’re perhaps mingling with different kinds of families, so maybe they’ll have different kinds of friendships," Andrews noted. The Welsh children have been enrolled in Lambrook School, a private preparatory school in Berkshire. George, Charlotte, and Louis are being taught alongside children from professions including doctors and attorneys, implying that their upbringing is "more Middleton than Windsor." The royal expert noted that this strategy aligns with William and Kate's intentions to underscore the importance of a monarchy that is relevant in the twenty-first century.
Middleton has several times discussed the upbringing of her children and the values she and William impart to them. In October 2023, the Princess of Wales engaged with students at Nottingham Trent University and highlighted the significance of exploring new things. She viewed her undergraduate experience as an opportunity to pursue her passions in sports, music, and art. “It’s one of the things with my kids, too, just trying out new things, and university for me was when I learned to try out because there is so much on offer," she said while revealing that she encouraged her children to be curious and experience new things, which could also mean discovering enriching friendships. Middleton also emphasized her love of outdoor activities, her involvement in several sports organizations, and her membership in a photography club, where she met new people—a hobby she still cherishes, as reported by HELLO!
In 2016, the Prince and Princess of Wales had initiated the Heads Together campaign to promote discussions about mental health. Back then, William emphasized the importance of encouraging their children, George and Charlotte, "to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings." During her 2023 visit to the Scouts' headquarters in Gilwell Park, Essex, Middleton expressed her desire for her children to join the organization. Teenage Scout Tahseen Patel shared that the Princess of Wales was particularly interested in the lessons of Scouting that extend beyond traditional schooling, emphasizing the importance of building relationships with other children.
