Real Reason Why Prince William and Princess Kate Tend to 'Go Easier' on Louis
Prince Louis has long been dubbed the cheekiest royal to date, often stealing the spotlight with his innocence and playful antics. From sticking his tongue out at public events to hushing his mother, the young royal certainly knows how to entertain people. While many enjoy Louis's mischief, others wonder how Prince William and Kate Middleton handle it, given the family's strict protocols for royal events. According to a source, the Prince and Princess of Wales tolerate his behavior because they don't want to break his little spirit.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the insider revealed that William and Middleton are like any other strict parents with their other children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. However, things are a bit different with their youngest. They said, "William and Kate are easier on Louis because he's the baby of the family. They don't want to break his little spirit. William and Kate do their best to teach him how to behave, but understand these events are tiresome for a youngster." Luckily for the 'hands-on parents,' George and Charlotte step in, ensuring that their younger brother doesn't go too out of line. "They gently admonish him when he [Louis] gets out of hand because he's got to learn."
Moreover, Middleton has a secret trick to ensure that Louis does not get too frisky, especially in front of the camera and around his elders. In his book, Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, royal author Tom Quinn mentioned that when Louis misbehaved with the late Queen Elizabeth during her Platinum Jubilee, the Princess of Wales swiftly handled the situation. He penned, "She [Middleton] apparently used a secret code to calm the children, as she does on occasions. She simply says, 'Let's take a break.' But as a former staffer explained, the children know these few words carry far more weight than we might imagine."
While Middleton and William occasionally prioritize good behavior, they also strike a balance between good manners and letting their children be themselves. Commenting on the same, a source told OK! magazine, "Louis is an energetic child and clearly was unable to contain his excitement at being at a public event. Kate doesn't worry about their behavior too much."
Interestingly, William and Middleton have even poked fun at Louis's antics during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee. In a special thank-you note after the event, they quipped, "From the crowds on the Mall to communities hosting street parties up and down the country, we hope you had a weekend to remember. We all had an incredible time, especially Louis…" adding a side-eye emoji.
The Platinum Jubilee isn't the only time Louis pulled off his mischievous moves. He has yelled and covered his ears at RAF flypasts, tugged at William's uniform, made fun of George on VE Day, and even blown out Charlotte's candle at a concert.
