Rare Video Shows Emotional Kate Leaning on Brother James During Grueling 3 Peaks Challenge — Watch
A newly surfaced video offers a rare glimpse of Princess Kate and James Middleton during the final stretch of her remarkable charity challenge.
After announcing her cancer diagnosis in 2024, Princess Kate has continued to use her platform to support others fighting the same disease. Following her treatment at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, the Princess has become a strong advocate for cancer care and recovery. Paying an ode to the same, this past weekend, Kate took on one of the toughest endurance challenges in the U.K. — the National Three Peaks Challenge. The Princess undertook the challenge to raise funds and awareness for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. While the remarkable trek itself drew attention, it was also revealed that she had a special source of support throughout the journey: none other than her younger brother, James Middleton.
In support of his sister, James also joined her for part of the hike and encouraged her to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales within 24 hours. The demanding challenge covered around 23 miles of hiking with a total elevation gain of more than 10,000 feet. Kate began the trek on Saturday and finished in Wales. One of her co-trekkers, entrepreneur Phillip Tebajjwa, shared glimpses of the challenge and uploaded an Instagram story showing James and Kate descending Mount Snowdon hand in hand. One of James' six dogs also accompanied the pair during the final stretch of the hike.
"There I was, congratulating fellow climbers as they made their way down from the windy summit... little did I know I was actually speaking to royalty," Tebajjwa wrote alongside the video. He also shared a selfie with the Princess and described the memorable encounter. "The Princess of Wales just stopped to congratulate me on completing the challenge... and then agreed to take a selfie. At that moment, I could only think of one thing... Am I actually dreaming?" he wrote. Watch the video here!
After completing the trek, Kate was joined by Prince William, their children: Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales, and Prince Louis, along with her parents, Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton. Celebrating his sister's win, James later commented, "So proud," with a heart and mountain emoji on the official Instagram post of the royal detailing her trek.
In yet another video, Kate explained why the challenge meant so much to her after her cancer journey. "Cancer doesn’t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life. I know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone," she wrote. The Princess continued, "I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back."
