An unexpected dispute involving Princess Kate's sister has reportedly reignited frustration within Harry and Meghan's camp over their long-running security battle.

A dispute involving Pippa Middleton and James Matthews' Berkshire estate has reportedly reignited discussion around security and privacy concerns — an issue that remains central to Prince Harry's relationship with the UK. The couple’s Berkshire estate has reportedly come under fire after complaints about an electric gate that critics claim occludes a public right-of-way footpath. While local authorities are overlooking the matter, the situation has reportedly caused frustration within the Sussex camp. It's regarding what they see as unequal treatment, especially when security concerns are involved.

According to International Business Times, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are particularly upset by consistent comparisons between their own security battle and the response to the Matthews family's arrangements. An insider revealed the Sussexes perceive the situation as evidence of a very apparent double standard. While shedding light on Harry’s experiences, the source shared, "[Harry] has been treated as though he's totally out of bounds and shouldn't dare ask for so-called special treatment." The insider then added, "Yet, the palace reaction to Pippa and James seemingly asking for special treatment has been the opposite. No one is raising a fuss about them taking advantage."

The issue is particularly sensitive because security has remained one of Harry's most significant concerns since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. After he decided to step back from being a working royal, the Duke of Sussex lost access to publicly funded police protection. Hence, he has spent years challenging aspects of that decision. The same insider claimed, "It's always been one set of rules for Harry and another set for everyone else. Harry and Meghan have noticed for ages that the Middletons seem to be able to write their own rulebook. It's very frustrating, but nothing new."

The controversy has also led to quite a lot of debates among royal watchers. That’s because Pippa Middleton and James Matthews are private citizens and not working members of the Royal Family. Supporters of the Sussexes stress that any willingness to accommodate security-related concerns for relatives connected to the monarchy stands in sharp contrast to the difficulties Harry has been facing in securing protection for his own family. The discussion has been at the forefront during the time when reports suggest Harry hopes to bring Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet to the UK more frequently. However, questions surrounding security arrangements continue to remain unresolved.

Neither Kensington Palace nor any spokesperson from the Sussex camp has responded to these claims yet. However, the matter has once again made people think about how central security concerns remain to Harry’s relationship with his home country. Concerns about the same have time and again influenced his decisions regarding visits, family travel, and potential reconciliation efforts. As the debate continues over the Matthews family’s security measures, the incident has also revived intense questions about whether the members of the royal family’s extended circle are treated differently when safety and privacy concerns come into play.
