Princess Kate ‘Caught in the Middle’ as Prince William and King Charles’ Alleged Rift Grows: Source
According to sources, Princess Kate is 'distressed' and 'exhausted' as she tries to bridge the gap between the monarch and the future king.
Prince William and King Charles are reportedly at odds over Prince Harry, and things have seemingly only escalated since the Duke's recent reunion with the King, which the Waleses were allegedly not informed about. According to sources, Princess Kate is now stuck trying to bridge the gap between the monarch and the future king.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Charles and Queen Camilla met with Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet at Highgrove House in July, and William and Kate were not part of the meeting. The Prince of Wales’ stance toward his brother remains unchanged, as William reportedly finds himself unable to forgive Harry.
Commenting on the consequent distance between William and Charles as the King wishes to reconcile, a source told Woman's Day, “It used to be the horrible state of things between William and his brother that kept her up at night worrying, but now she’s even more distressed by the growing distance between William and his father.” They went on to explain that Kate does not want to undermine William's feelings, but also cares deeply for her father-in-law. As the King continues his cancer treatment, Kate is allegedly equally concerned about his well-being.
With Charles' health weighing on her mind, the source said Kate has been urging William to cut his father some slack. She understands why he is frustrated by Charles' decisions involving Harry and Meghan, but believes his anger is only adding to the tension. “She’s such a peacemaker by nature, so her first instinct was to try and intervene.”
Despite her efforts, the Princess of Wales has been unable to help ease the tensions between William and Charles. The source added, “Being caught in the middle has become emotionally exhausting, and the fact is things have gotten so explosive, anything she does risks making things worse.”
The source also claimed that while William continues to keep his distance, Kate has remained in regular contact with Charles. “She’s very protective of him and even more so now that he’s battling cancer – she knows how hard that is and hates that he’s having to deal with this painful rift with William at the same time,” the insider revealed.
Small gestures have also become part of Kate's way of supporting her father-in-law. The insider said she has been baking healthy treats for the monarch and sending them over to remind him that she is thinking of him.
