Although Princess Charlotte is often described as the spitting image of Prince William, she occasionally loves to take a page out of her mother, Kate Middleton's book. And how does she achieve that? By drawing inspiration from her mum's most iconic looks at past public outings. She did exactly that during her appearance on December 5 at the Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey. A close look revealed that Charlotte's updo bun that day mirrored the hairstyle Middleton wore for the 80th Anniversary of VE Day on May 8.

For the concert, hosted by her mother since 2021, the young Princess wore a large black bow in her hair, adding a festive touch. Her mane was pulled back from her face in a simple half-up style, with soft waves at the ends. It closely resembled the hairstyle Middleton wore at the VE Day concert. The event in May brought together several members of the royal family to watch performances by singers like Fleur East, John Newman, and Freya Ridings. For the somber occasion, the Princess of Wales completed her look with a large black hair bow, similar to Charlotte's carol service look, which added an elegant touch to her Self-Portrait white blazer and pleated skirt.

Weighing in on Charlotte's sweet tribute to her mother, luxury stylist Oriona Robb told HELLO!, "Kate has made the oversized velvet bow something of a signature, elegant, youthful, and timeless, and Charlotte mirroring it instantly feels both sentimental and sophisticated." She continued, "The matching looks work because the bow is age-appropriate, soft, and classic, adding polish without overwhelming a child's outfit. It's a subtle way for mother and daughter to coordinate on big public occasions without looking overly 'done'." Furthermore, Robb suggested that a velvet bow was perfect for winter outfits and special occasions.

Charlotte's chic recent look showcased her evolving fashion sense from a young girl to a growing woman. Reflecting on the same, fashion editor Bethan Holt previously told PEOPLE, "It felt like a bit of a milestone, like she's [Charlotte] transitioning from a sweet little girl in smocked floral dresses to a slightly more grown-up tween vibe." Similarly, fashion expert Nicole Robinson echoed, "I think Kate has a really elegant, effortless classic style, and she always looks amazing, so you would assume that would filter down to what she chooses to dress her daughter in. She [Charlotte] always looks immaculately turned out, and I'm sure as she gets older that will continue to be the case."

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales reportedly also has a 'secret trick' for Charlotte's hair to ensure that she doesn't 'grow up too quickly.' Speaking about the same, royal expert Laura Sutcliffe told HELLO!, "I think it's great to see a girl of her age experimenting with plaits and having fun with her hair. Lots of people complain that young girls grow up too quickly and do things that are too grown-up with their hair, but Charlotte and her family stay very true to her age and respect it."
