Princess Anne’s Son Peter Phillips Finally Announces His Wedding Date — but Will Harry Attend?
A spokesperson confirmed that Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling would be marrying in a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble.
After a rocky start to the year, a dose of good news arrived at the Palace doors as Peter Phillips, Princess Anne's son, announced his plans to wed Harriet Sperling on June 6. A spokesperson confirmed that the couple would be tying the knot in a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble, Cirencester. While royal fans celebrated the news, many are wondering whether Prince Harry might make an appearance for his beloved cousin and spark a long-awaited family thaw.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Phillips' spokesperson Gerard Franklin said, "Both families have been informed jointly of the wedding date by invitation. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales, have also been informed of the announcement. Further details will be announced in due course." This is Phillip's second marriage, as he was married to Autumn Kelly before, with whom he shares two daughters. He has been dating Sperling, an NHS nurse, since May 2024, and announced his engagement on August 1, 2025. They made their public debut at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire.
As soon as the update hit the shelves, questions swirled over whether Harry would attend the wedding, considering his cordial bond with Phillips. Commenting on the same, former royal butler Grant Harrold told Royal Insider that there is 'a strong chance' that Phillips would invite the Duke of Sussex. However, he cautioned, "His [Harry's] presence could unintentionally overshadow the wedding due to ongoing tensions within the royal family and the intense media focus that follows him." If he does decide to attend, Harrold believes he will not be taking on a major role in the ceremony. He added, "Given the current climate, there's a real risk that his [Harry's] presence could become the headline, rather than the wedding itself."
Previously, Harrold has also shared that Phillips shares one thing in common with Prince William and Harry, making a wedding invitation more likely for them. As reported by Marie Claire, he noted that Anne's son had "a very similar sense of humor to Prince William and Harry, they all have really good banter. They all love practical jokes." He continued, "He's [Phillips] very unassuming. He's almost an unknown member of the family, and he keeps out of the spotlight a lot."
After Phillips announced his engagement in August, sources told royal correspondent Rob Shuter that Harry, who may attend the wedding, allegedly wanted nothing to do with William. Shuter penned on his Substack that an insider said, "He [Harry] doesn't want to be part of some fake PR reunion. He's not interested in pretending things are fine when they're not." Another source claimed that the brothers would go to great lengths to avoid each other at the reception. They alleged, "They'll [William and Harry] be in the same room—but not in the same frame. No speeches, no toasts, no warm moments." Only time will tell if Harry will be willing, for once, to place his family over his unforgiveness.
