Prince William’s Door Remains ‘Bolted Shut’ as Prince Harry Seeks Family Reunion in the UK, Says Expert
While hopes of a royal reconciliation continue to grow, one expert believes Prince William remains firmly unwilling to reopen old wounds.
Prince Harry has reportedly been making attempts to finally reconcile with the royal family. "I would love reconciliation with my family," he had emotionally confessed during a tell-all BBC interview last year. It looks like a royal reunion is on the horizon for the Duke as he makes a sentimental homecoming next month. Harry will be accompanied by his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. According to reports, King Charles has facilitated their security and stay in one of the royal residences. Meanwhile, royal experts and fans have been hoping that the Duke and his elder brother, Prince William, will bury the hatchet once and for all. But an expert has weighed in on the possibilities, and the result seems bleak.
Dan Wakeford, founder of Celebrity Intelligence and former editor of major publications like People and Entertainment Weekly, commented on the Sussexes' UK tour. He told Fox News Digital that observers of royal affairs should not expect a "complete reconciliation with the family." Wakeford continued that it's highly likely that King Charles might hold an audience with the Sussexes since he hasn't met his grandchildren in a long time. However, when it came to the brothers, the editor gave a negative reaction. "Harry is not going to be meeting William. I cannot see that happening at all." He further stated, "A William and Catherine meeting is incredibly unlikely. The Wales household is completely bolted shut right now." Wakeford indicated that the King represents a potential opportunity, yet William's position remains unchanged, and meetings with Harry and Meghan outside of official events are unlikely, reflecting a more rigid stance compared to Charles' approach.
Wakeford noted that sources suggest Charles may consider funding the family's security in the U.K. to spend time with his grandchildren, although this is not officially confirmed. He further highlighted that Harry is assessing the sustainability of a U.K. presence, with a test run scheduled for July 10. The outcome would depend on Charles's management of the situation and William's continued separation, as the Prince of Wales stance appears to be firmly established and permanent. "William's position is hardened just as much as ever, and it seems permanent," Wakeford said. The ex-royals lost taxpayer-funded police protection when they stepped back as senior royals in 2020.
Wakeford further noted that Prince William is particularly upset about remarks made regarding Kate, indicating he is finished with the ongoing drama in their relationship. "He could perhaps have absorbed the criticism of himself, which Harry wrote in 'Spare,' but he cannot get over how much hurt it caused his wife," Wakeford claimed. As things stand, while a father's door remains open, the bridge between the two brothers appears more fractured than ever, leaving the true success of Harry's upcoming homecoming hanging entirely in the balance.
