Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'Crawling Back' to Royal Family Out of Desperation, Expert Claims

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently everywhere, as they are expected to return to British soil after almost four years. And this time, it is believed to be special, as their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will also be accompanying them for a grand royal family reunion. The highly anticipated five-day trip has also reportedly received clearance from King Charles, who has granted the Sussexes top-level security and the option to stay at a royal residence. However, royal experts feel the Sussexes are "desperate" to renew connections just to save their brand.
Tom Bower, royal biographer and author of Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, explained that the ex-royals have exhausted their options in Hollywood and so they’re 'crawling' back to Buckingham Palace. "I think you can summarize it in two words: desperation and failure," he told Tom Sykes on The Royalist podcast. "They’ve run out of ideas, and their finances are basically in jeopardy."
While discussing Markle's moves, he had some stern words to say. He portrayed the Duchess as someone who yearns for fame, recognition, money, and status, believing that visiting the royal family in Britain could restore her lost credibility. The former working royals are expected to meet key members of the royal family, along with their children, while also marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. According to Bower, Harry feels isolated in California, misses his English roots, and seeks to reconnect with both his family and the British public. "We’re seeing them effectively crawl on bended knees back to Britain, and they are to be pathetically grateful if the king agrees," he added. Speculations have been rife about the King meeting his youngest grandchildren. The last time they met was during the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the late Queen Elizabeth. Bower also expressed doubt that Harry and Markle will receive a "royal welcome," as the Duchess desires. He argued that Buckingham Palace would not permit her to present herself as a royal in Britain for profit or fame. Any such exploitation would lead to controversy, he asserted. "I mean, we are then into really sordid, controversial territory, if in any way she’s allowed to exploit that situation."
Meanwhile, Archewell, the organization led by Harry and Meghan, did not comment on the rift within the royal household over the Sussexes. The 'hawks,' led by Sir Clive Alderton, view Harry’s actions as unforgivable, fearing the monarchy's reputation could suffer if they are reinstated. In contrast, the "doves," headed by Theo Rycroft, align with the king's desire for reconciliation to uphold the royal family's ideal image.
