Prince William Won’t Hold Beatrice and Eugenie Responsible for Andrew's 'Alleged Sins'
Prince William’s decision not to punish Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie for their father’s fall from grace is not driven by emotion. It is because he aims to lead by clearly separating personal responsibility from shared blame. And especially at a time when scandal has been spreading fast, and consequences are spilling beyond the guilty, William’s position has remained steady: the former Prince Andrew will face the fallout, but his daughters will not.
“William’s position is direct: Beatrice and Eugenie must not be punished for their father’s alleged sins,” said Robert Jobson, writing for HELLO! Those close to the Prince of Wales say he has little patience for the noise that now routinely surrounds his disgraced uncle. In William’s view, accountability has already been applied where it belongs. The rest, he believes, is distraction.
Necessary action, insiders say, was taken by King Charles in consultation with his heir. Titles, roles, and military links all were addressed with clinical clarity where Mountbatten Windsor was concerned. But the same logic, William insists, cannot be stretched to erase two women who did not create the crisis, yet have lived with its consequences for years. For the same reason, Jobson says, “Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles were never in doubt.”
Similarly, according to GB News, “Prince William is keeping his distance from crucial talks between King Charles and Prince Andrew regarding the disgraced royal’s residency at Royal Lodge.” While his personal disapproval of his uncle’s past conduct is said to be unmistakable in private, William has avoided becoming directly involved in negotiations that risk drawing him into the heart of the dispute. As the outlet noted, “The future king is said to be keen on resolving the dispute but has avoided direct involvement due to his fondness for his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.” Crucially, it is also understood that William has “made clear to the 37 and 35-year-old sisters that they remain blameless in the matter of their father’s fall from grace.”
That distinction has now been openly acknowledged. HELLO!’s royal editor Emily Nash confirmed that both sisters retain the full support of the King and the Prince of Wales. Speaking on The Banishment of Andrew podcast, she addressed the emotional toll of the past few years with rare bluntness. “You have to have some sympathy for them,” she said. “I think we’ve seen that compassion coming from the King and the Prince of Wales. It’s been made clear that they’re not going to be punished for things beyond their control. This is not something of their doing.”
Both Beatrice and Eugenie will retain their titles as princesses, a right afforded them as the daughters of the son of a sovereign. Nash stressed, "They're technically still princesses. That's not changing." Their relatively protected status also counters recent rumors that Prince William had threatened to revoke their titles if they didn't convince their father to vacate Royal Lodge; claims that Nash dismissed as 'categorically untrue.' "There was a story going around earlier in the week saying that he basically put pressure on them, saying, 'You have to persuade your father to leave, or we'll look at your titles,'" she noted. "I'm told that's categorically untrue."
