Prince William Won't Do Anything to 'Defend His Despicable Uncle Andrew', Says Expert
Prince William’s recent comments, as brief as they were, are being interpreted as a deliberate break from royal tradition. According to several royal commentators, the Prince of Wales is drawing a firm line amid the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor scandal, even if that means abandoning the long-standing 'never complain, never explain' code that has shaped the monarchy'spublic approach for decades.
Royal expert, Hilary Fordwich, told Fox News Digital, that William has no intention of shielding his uncle. “Prince William, with the major influence of Princess Catherine, is modernizing the monarchy by clarifying their position, which is with the victims,” Fordwich said. “This demonstrates William’s moral authority. We can expect that he will not do anything to defend his despicable uncle.” The Prince and Princess of Wales issued a rare public statement before William departed for Saudi Arabia. A spokesperson said: “I can confirm the Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations, and their thoughts remain focused on the victims.” Per Fordwich, the wording of the statement was intentional. “He is clearly the hardliner on reputational risk, viewing silence as both damning and dangerous for the monarchy. Notably, the statement he and Princess Catherine released was brief, direct, and avoided any mention of his despicable uncle’s name.”
Fordwich noted that even after that statement, William faced heckling over the issue during his trip. “Despite issuing a statement supporting victims before departing for Saudi Arabia, Prince William was still heckled,” she said.
While William was making his way out of the football stadium, a reporter asked him the Mountbatten-Windsor question."Sir, to what extent do you think the royal family has done enough around the Andrew and Epstein issue?" the reporter asked. It is unclear whether William deliberately ignored the question or whether he could not hear the reporter at all. The renewed focus on Mountbatten-Windsor follows the release of more than three million records from the Department of Justice of the United States, related to convicted Jeffrey Epstein, including personal emails. Mountbatten-Windsor, 65, has previously said he ended contact with Epstein in 2010, though documents indicate communication continued beyond that date.
“There is no way to completely shut down this nightmare,” Fordwich admitted. “They have already shifted Andrew out of the public spotlight, stripped him of his titles and patronages—all of which William wanted from the outset. He and Princess Catherine are aligned with the public disgust towards [his] behavior.”
This is not the first time the Prince and Princess of Wales were asked about Mountbatten-Windsor. On their final engagement of the day in Scotland, in January, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited a community pub in the former mining village of Fallin, after earlier stopping in Stirling. As crowds gathered outside to greet them, one man shouted, “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Have you been covering up for Andrew?” According to the Express, others in the crowd quickly tried to quieten him, while security officers intervened and asked him to calm down. The royal couple did not acknowledge the remark and proceeded with their visit as scheduled.
