Prince William Reveals What Helps Him 'Sleep at Night' Amid Fears Over His Children's Future
During a wildlife business forum, Prince William revealed what helps him get a good night's sleep — and we are hardly surprised.
Much like his father, Prince William has used his platform to promote sustainability initiatives, backing innovative projects through his Earthshot Prize that address environmental challenges. His latest outing at The Royal Foundation's United for Wildlife business forum on June 22 was no different, where he joined actors Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch for a good cause. During a conversation with former US Vice President Al Gore, he revealed that his drive to find climate solutions is what helps him sleep peacefully at night, offering a rare glimpse into his environmental work.
As reported by The Telegraph, William teamed up with Watson and Cumberbatch as part of the London Climate Action Week. The Harry Potter actress has long supported the Earthshot Prize, presenting the Fix Our Climate award at the 2021 inaugural ceremony. At the business forum, the Prince of Wales told Gore that being the driving force behind Earthshot gave him optimism, and kept "my environmental anxiety at bay because I can actually see some of the things we are doing are bringing change... There are actually tangible benefits, and it helps me sleep at night." However, he stressed that there would also be "some sweaty nights" while figuring out his way forward after the Earthshot decade wraps in 2030. Watch the video here!
William has previously shared how the happiness he gets from the Earthshot Prize is something he tells his children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, before bedtime. "You have to provide leadership and a vision that there's good things to come and that it's not all negative, and for my children, particularly, knowing the planet's going to be in a healthier, better state because of the brilliant people in this room is something that I love to tell them when they go to bed." Earthshot Prize is designed as a 10-year initiative to promote environmental innovation, where five winners each year receive roughly $1.4 million in funding for their cause.
As for his latest outing, the event saw various business leaders, conservationists, and environmental advocates discuss solutions to climate and wildlife-related challenges. Marking a decade since the Buckingham Palace Declaration, it also saw major companies announce new commitments to tackling illegal wildlife trade, a key focus of William's conservation efforts. He attended the event just one day after his 44th birthday, which Kensington Palace marked with a portrait of him smiling next to his daughter Charlotte.
