Princess Charlotte Looks Just Like Prince William in New Birthday and Father’s Day Portrait
The heartwarming photo marked two special occasions — and showed that Princess Charlotte is truly the spitting image of her father.
Prince William had twice the reason to smile yesterday, as his 44th birthday on June 21 coincided with Father's Day. And what better way to mark the occasions than with his mini-me, Princess Charlotte, by his side? On Sunday, Kensington Palace shared a sweet portrait of the Prince of Wales in his military uniform with his arms around his daughter, who looked every bit like her father. The affectionate snapshot offered a rare glimpse into the Waleses' family life away from public duties.
In a photo shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram, William and Charlotte are seen smiling after returning from the Trooping the Colour celebrations on June 13. Although Princess Kate, Prince George, and Prince Louis were absent from the image, they had joined William and the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony. The portrait came with the caption, "Happy birthday and Father's Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L." signed off with the children's initials. Coincidentally, his birthday also falls on the same day as his in-laws', Carole and Michael Middleton's 46th wedding anniversary.
On that note, William's 44th birthday tribute was much different from the one posted on his 43rd birthday, where he was seen playing with the family's beloved dog, Orla's litter of puppies. Orla was one of the six puppies welcomed by Kate's brother James Middleton's dog, Luna, in 2020, which he then gifted to the couple. Like this year, the post was signed off with the children's initials, "Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla, and the puppies!" After it was posted, the Walses came under fire from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) over their decision to breed their pet dog.
As for his Father's Day tribute, last year, Kensington Palace shared two candid photos taken by photographer Josh Shinner in Norfolk. The first showed the Prince of Wales with his arms wrapped around George, Charlotte, and Louis, while the second captured the children playfully piling on top of him as they laughed together on the grass. The images were released just months after Kate announced she was in remission from cancer, giving it extra emotional resonance as the family finally celebrated the end of a deeply difficult chapter.
