Prince William Once Joked About Writing a ‘Bestseller’ — and the Subject May Surprise You
Prince William is known to get competitive when he has to go against Princess Kate, and it brings out a side of him we rarely see.
Prince William is known for his quick wit, and he is usually at his best whenever he is around Princess Kate. The couple is often tasked with going against each other during public engagements. Although they are fun contests, the duo gets extremely competitive, resulting in some hilarious moments for their fans.
In 2019, the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared alongside British food writer and chef Mary Berry, and British Bake-Off winner Nadiya Hussain for the BBC programme A Berry Royal Christmas. The quartet was split into two teams: William and Hussain vs Kate and Berry. Both teams had to roll and decorate Christmas roulades, and of course a competition meant some funny banter between the royal couple.
The now-Prince of Wales began with the age-old tactic of boasting about one’s abilities. However, in a true William fashion, he showed off his confidence in the funniest manner. “I've made hundreds of roulades, loads. I'm going to write a book about roulades, and it'll be a bestseller,” he said, as per the Daily Express.
Never to be left behind, the Princess of Wales fished out some of her cheeky humor to tease her husband by revealing an amusing memory from their time at St. Andrews. “University days, he used to cook all sorts of meals; I think that was when he was trying to impress me,” she said. She clarified that William was “very good at breakfast.” Kate shared that he would make dishes like Bolognese sauce when they were studying.
While it seems that the Prince of Wales knows his way around the kitchen, the same can’t be said about his wife. During a 2016 gala dinner in support of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices that featured five-course meals prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, Kate revealed why William would enjoy the delectable feast. “William has to put up with my cooking most of the time,” she said, prompting the Prince to joke, “It's the reason I'm so skinny!”
William and Kate’s competitiveness is no secret. During an appearance on Mike Tindall’s podcast, the pair revealed that it is the reason why they had never finished a tennis match.
