Prince William may be preparing for his future role as king, but he recently revealed that he once dreamed of pursuing two very different careers. During his surprise appearance on The Graham Norton Show, William opened up about the jobs he would have wanted had he not been born into the royal family. While one of his choices was something he considered seriously as a child, the other one was rather unexpected.

On The Graham Norton Show, the Prince made a surprise appearance to discuss his environmental initiative, the Earthshot Prize, which will hold its sixth annual awards ceremony in Mumbai, India, next month. During the show, he revealed that while growing up, he wanted to become a policeman. “I did want to be a policeman when I was younger," he added. However, he further elaborated that other than being a policeman, he also wanted to be a DJ.
While William seemed confident he could have made a good policeman, his experience with music was apparently a different story. "I thought I could make a good one. And then I went through a phase of wanting to be a DJ—I wasn’t very good," the Prince shared. William didn't elaborate on his DJ phase, but he did share details about how he likes to spend his free time when he isn't busy with royal engagements.

“I love getting immersed in deep-thinking films,” the Prince said. He added, “I like action films, too, but I like something a bit different. I’m a big fan of everything Christopher Nolan does. His films are fantastic—The Dark Knight series is psychologically dark and deep, and I absolutely love that. He takes concepts that are completely out there and makes them incredibly entertaining.” Talking about his kids' interests, he added that they are fans of The Celebrity Traitors. "Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It’s really good telly," he shared.

On the show, William was also joined by Earthshot Prize supporters Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, and Robert Irwin. Talking about his passion project, he shared, “I thought we could do something more powerful and more optimistic, and the idea of an awards ceremony came about, and we could talk about urgency and optimism together." William hopes the initiative will highlight those working to protect the planet and give them a global platform to showcase their solutions.
