Prince William Looks Back on ‘Fun’ Early Years with Kate Ahead of Milestone Anniversary
Kate and William tied the knot back on April 29, 2011, in a "fairytale-coded" ceremony, which was live-watched by millions worldwide.
Prince William and Princess Kate are currently ringing the bells to commemorate their 15th wedding anniversary. The couple tied the knot back in 2011, on April 29, in a "fairytale-coded" ceremony, which was live-watched by millions worldwide. While the duo is still madly in love, things have changed quite a lot as they are no longer just a young couple. Amid the ongoing celebration, William, during his RAF Valley visit in Anglesey, revealed one aspect of his 'fun' early married days he still dearly misses.
Now, grown into the roles of doting parents and the future of the monarchy, William and Kate's lives have changed quite a lot. While the duo has evolved, they still miss their old carefree selves, and talking about it, William, as highlighted by HELLO!, told the trainees at RAF Valley how he "loved" those early wedding days with Kate. "I loved my time up here. It was great fun. Your time up here will go quickly, that’s the thing. You’ll look back with fond memories," shared William.
Reflecting on their early years, the Princess recently shared, "I do miss it. I miss the job, I miss the camaraderie." Before the Prince of Wales bore the full weight of the monarchy’s future, he was simply a dedicated RAF search and rescue pilot. Stationed at the Holyhead base from 2010 to 2013, William and Kate spent their first years of marriage living as newlyweds in Anglesey. Clearly, William still cherishes those fond days, keeping them alive in his memory.
With King Charles and Queen Camilla away for their US tour, William and Kate will be ringing in their 15th anniversary rather privately. Speculation suggests the couple may even forego their traditional anniversary family portrait to ensure they do not divert attention from the King and Queen’s international visit. Reflecting on their marriage, an insider told HELLO!'s royal editor, Emily Nash, "They're (William and Kate) a great example of a happy family."
The source continued, "William has always been intent on achieving that. Catherine also comes from a near-idyllic family background, what with her two amazing parents and close sibling relationships." Talking about this year's anniversary plans, royal expert Katie Nicholl told OK! "They're not an over-the-top couple, and they don't make a big fuss with ostentatious gifts for occasions like anniversaries, but they're still very romantic together, and they will certainly want to mark the moment in some way."
She continued, "Whenever anyone who knows them is asked how they'll celebrate, the answer is always the same: privately." Nicholl further detailed, "They would both much prefer some family holiday time or a private anniversary trip to any big public declarations. I can see them going somewhere that earns a lot for them, possibly to Africa, or maybe to Mustique." Even last year, the couple rang in their anniversary privately in a remote hideaway on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides. The couple is also not big on gifts, and all they want is to spend time together.
