Prince William, as heir to the throne, is patron to many organizations that help shape the future; some of which he's extremely passionate about. The Prince of Wales is known to have a keen interest in football (soccer) and is often seen kicking a ball during sporting events. His daughter, Princess Charlotte, has also inherited his fondness for the sport and must be thrilled with his father’s latest outing.

William serves as the patron of the Football Association, England’s governing body for the sport. According to People magazine, he recently visited the women’s national team, the Lionesses, to give them their official jerseys. The Prince visited the team’s training base at St. George’s Park and interacted with head coach Sarina Wiegman. Similar to his other visits, he made it a point to also meet with families of several players and learn about their strategies for their upcoming tournament. Charlotte must be thrilled with her father personally supporting the women’s team, as she is a fan herself of the Lionesses.

In 2022, the young Princess joined her father in sending best wishes to the team for the Women’s World Cup. In the video message, William said, “We both want to wish the Lionesses the best of luck for tonight. You've done amazingly well in the competition, and we're rooting for you all the way!” Charlotte sweetly chimed, “Good luck! I hope you win. Bye!” Ahead of the World Cup, William also revealed how his daughter is a fan of the sport during a visit to St. George’s Park, the Lionesses’ training ground in Burton-on-Trent.

He gave team captain Leah Williamson a sweet message from his daughter. He said, “Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she’s really good in goal. She said, 'Please tell them that.’” The Prince added, “Budding star for the future!” Besides football, Charlotte is also a keen athlete who is working on her running. According to Hello! magazine, earlier this year, William spoke with Olympic middle-distance runner Keely Hodgkinson at Windsor Castle. Hodgkinson later revealed, “The prince told me his daughter is doing the 400m at the minute and the hurdles and that she did watch me in Paris. He told me that he remembers me winning and that he wished he could be there to see it himself.”

Charlotte has also inherited the love for horses from her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. From an early age, the Princess began horseback riding lessons along with her elder brother, Prince George. Horse riding is a common interest in the royal family. William was also just a kid when he began his lessons. The family also has two equestrians, Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Tindall, who have competed at the Olympics.
