Prince William Admits Rare Disappointment as Princess Charlotte Sides With Kate on One Thing
Prince William is unhappy with his daughter's choice, but as a father he is letting his children forge their own paths.
Prince William may be the future King of the United Kingdom, with several duties and responsibilities to his name, but he doesn’t always rule the remote at home. His family life scenario is similar to ours, with his daughter siding with his wife, Princess Kate, rather than him in one specific aspect that hits home. Princess Charlotte has snubbed his beloved Aston Villa soccer club, as revealed by the Prince in his recent interview. And while William is unhappy with the fact, he is letting his children choose their own paths, even if it means losing a home-team ally.
Prince William’s happiness knew no bounds when his favorite club finally overcame their trophy drought by bringing home the Europa League trophy after 44 years. The Prince was seen cheering for the team from the stands, and he even sang Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, a 1969 pop-rock classic, along with the crowd from the stands. Later, during a conversation with GB News during his Nansledan visit, the Prince revealed that while he is elated over the club’s win, his children don’t essentially feel the same.
While his son, Prince George, has inherited the same Ashton Villa craze as his father, his daughter, Charlotte, took after her mother. Ditching his favorite team, Charlotte supports Chelsea Football Club, a team Kate has been openly cheering for years. Well, that was definitely a bummer for the Prince, but netizens are thrilled to see Charlotte’s loyalty towards the blue.
Sharing their approval, one user commented on X, "As a Chelsea fan, I am delighted by the news that Princess Charlotte is a Chelsea fan." They continued, “To all Chelsea fans, are you delighted by the news as well?” While another added, “A woman of taste.” A third quipped, "He said he lets his children choose who they support, and she supports Chelsea." While a fourth commented, “It's likely the Chelsea Women's team she's a fan of.”
While William might be disappointed with his daughter’s preferences, he supports her choices, and talking about it back in 2025, he told the Sun, "I'm kind of hoping they'll all find their own teams in time. They don't all have to be Villa fans." He continued, "I'm trying not to be biased, but obviously they see how passionate I am about it, and they watch the matches with me. I'm trying to spread the love a little bit."
