Prince Harry’s Solo NBA Night Out Sends a Clear ‘Message’ — and Meghan Is ‘Fuming’
Prince Harry enjoyed the NBA Finals, but one detail has reportedly left Meghan Markle questioning their place in celebrity circles.
Prince Harry was all smiles at Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals on June 13, enjoying the game alongside fellow veterans. Yet it was not his enthusiasm on the court that drew attention, but rather his peculiar seating arrangement. Despite being a royal and rubbing shoulders with celebrities, he was seated eight rows behind famous Hollywood A-listers, something that did not escape Meghan Markle's watchful eye. Sources claim she views the arrangement as a cruel snub to their place in the celebrity hierarchy and an insult to their public image.
On his Substack, Naughty But Nice, royal columnist Rob Shuter spoke to well-placed insiders who revealed Markle is allegedly 'fuming' over the snub. One said, "Meghan notices everything when it comes to image. To her, seating is status. It's not just about watching a game — it's about who sees you watching the game." While Hollywood titans Timothée Chalamet and Ben Stiller enjoyed front row seats, the Duke of Sussex was pushed several rows behind them. Weighing in on the optics, the source added, "Meghan believes Harry is one of the most recognizable men in the world. When he's sitting behind celebrities instead of beside them, she sees it as a message."
Against that context, there was another comparison that Markle allegedly could not seem to ignore. "Meghan knows Prince William and Princess Kate would have been offered front-row treatment." While the Duchess remains furious, the Duke, however, was said to be in high spirits throughout the game. Another insider stressed, "That's the difference between them. He [Harry] sees a basketball game. Meghan sees a brand." They argued that for Markle, the arrangements were a direct attack on her image. "She believes every appearance sends a message. In her world, where you sit matters almost as much as who's playing."
Meanwhile, another incident from the NBA outing saw Harry have an awkward encounter with filmmaker Spike Lee, with whom he has had an interesting history. A video floating on Reddit showed that after the Prince spotted Lee in the crowd and extended his hand for a greeting, the Oscar winner appeared to decline the handshake. He instead pointed a finger at Harry while the Duke placed a hand on the filmmaker's stomach. Despite the confusion, they proceeded to shake hands and exchange a few pleasantries. The brief interaction was uncomfortable to watch, with royal watchers describing it as embarrassing at best.
