Prince Harry's Reunion With King Charles Raised Hopes ― But Their Relationship Is 'Standing Still'

Prince Harry and King Charles's long-awaited reunion raised hopes, but an insider suggests the silence between them was far from over.

After months of speculation over a potential meeting, King Charles and Prince Harry finally reunited at Highgrove House on July 10, joined by Meghan Markle and their children. The private meetup signalled a thaw in their strained relationship, raising hopes of more family gatherings to come. But just as royal watchers believed the father and son had turned a new page, a source claims they have not spoken since the reunion, insisting it was never meant to be a 'miracle cure' in the first place.

On his Substack, Naughty But Nice, royal columnist Rob Shuter quoted various insiders who shed light on Charles and Harry's current bond. A Palace source revealed, "The reunion ended, Harry flew back to California, and that was it. There hasn't been a single conversation since. People wanted this to be the start of something bigger, but right now there's nothing else on the calendar." They also insisted that the father and son have had no phone calls, no text messages, and currently have no plans for another meeting with the children.

Moreover, insiders stressed that the meeting was never intended to be a quick fix for past mistakes. One said, "It was an important first step, not a miracle cure. Everyone left feeling the meeting was worthwhile, but nobody walked away believing everything had suddenly been fixed." According to Shuter, for now, both parties have returned to their normal lives, with the Duke focusing on Markle, Archie, and Lilibet, and the King resuming his schedule of royal engagements.

That being said, another well-placed source asserted, "The door hasn't been slammed shut. But it hasn't been thrown wide open either. Until someone makes the next move, the relationship is standing completely still." Previously, Shuter's informants have also alleged that one of the reasons Harry met Charles was to possibly ask for financial assistance for his $67 million in legal fees. In July, the Duke of Sussex, along with other claimants, lost the court case against Associated Newspapers. After the loss, Harry publicly lambasted the High Court's ruling as a 'whitewash.'

Weighing in on the same, an insider argued on Shuter's Substack, "The issue wasn't that Harry criticized the ruling. It was that he appeared to question the integrity of the judicial system itself. Judges don't usually respond well to that." The reaction to his blistering statement behind closed doors wasn't anger; it was genuine concern. Legal experts also argued that a litigant's conduct throughout the case can influence the final court fees, which threatens to plunge the Prince into more financial chaos. "Harry knows his father is one of the few people on earth who could write a check that size without blinking. Whether he [Charles] actually will is another story."
