Prince Harry's Old Video Resurfaces After His 'Prince of England' Remarks — And It's Not A Good Look
Prince Harry's comments about his occupation have not only raised eyebrows but also unearthed an old video.
While there have certainly been some positives with his charming public engagements and his meeting with King Charles, overall, Prince Harry’s return to the UK has been nothing short of sensational. There was a new controversy in the headlines almost every day. First, it was the infamous Buckingham Palace confusion, then his defeat in the legal battle against Associated Newspapers, and now his comments about his profession. During his recent appearance on former British rugby player Joe Marler’s podcast, Harry claimed his occupation was being a “full-time dad, British Army veteran, Prince of England, Duke,” which certainly raised more than a few eyebrows and even prompted an old video to resurface on social media.
Despite leaving the royal family, the Duke of Sussex has retained his title, and even though he is no longer a working royal, he is still technically the Prince of England because his father is the King. However, over the past several years, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have made several criticisms against the monarchy through interviews, docu-series, and a memoir. So his recent comments may not have sat well with people.
X users unearthed an old clip from Harry’s time in the military in which he says he doesn’t really like England. “It's something I'd love to do, and now I've had the chance once, I suppose I've got quite into it. And at the end of the day, if you join the army, you expect to go on operations. I don't want to sit around at Windsor, because I just generally don't like England that much, and it's nice to be away from all the press and the papers and the general s**** that they write,” he can be heard saying. Harry’s dislike for the British press is not new. It formed an integral part of his autobiography, Spare. In fact, in recent times, he has fought three court cases against the media entities. But his feelings for his home country have seemingly changed over the years.
After being denied automatic police protection in the UK, the Duke had emotionally talked about his disappointment that he wouldn’t be able to bring his kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to his homeland. He had claimed that he wouldn’t travel to the UK with Markle or the children without security, and that they had lost the right to do so when they had stepped down from their royal roles. However, the Sussexes did return to the UK this year.
Harry’s primary purpose of visit across the pond had been to attend the events for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. He also undertook some engagements which drew positive attention, and finally reunited with his father at Highgrove, the monarch’s private property, away from cameras and the press.
