Prince Harry May Get Unexpected Offer From King Charles Ahead Of UK Return — And William Isn't Happy

After King Charles and Prince Harry recently reunited, the monarch has once again extended an olive branch. As Harry is expected to travel back to the U.K, Charles has reportedly offered accommodation at Buckingham Palace. But the gesture may not sit well with Prince William, who has reportedly kept his distance from Harry for years.
While Charles is believed to be open to rebuilding his relationship with Harry, William is said to see things differently. Royal author Christopher Andersen told Fox News Digital that the Prince of Wales drew a firm line after the release of Harry's memoir, Spare, and has reportedly been disappointed that his father has not taken a stronger stance.
Anderson said, “William loves his father and appreciates better than anyone how underestimated Charles has been over the years. He wants the king to leave his mark on history. But deep down, he knows he and his family — particularly his wife, Kate — are the future of the monarchy.”
According to PEOPLE, Harry is expected to return to the U.K. in September. During the visit, The Sun reported that Charles intends to offer his younger son a room at Buckingham Palace. Neither Buckingham Palace nor Harry's representatives commented on the claim.
Speaking to the same outlet, royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner described Charles' reported offer as "a potential lifeline" for Harry. He also called it a message of "defiance" toward William, who is reportedly unwilling to have any further contact with his estranged brother. Helena Chard told the outlet, “Megxit forced William to grow up fast as the future king. He had to protect the institution while his brother walked away… From what I understand, he felt his father didn't handle that firmly enough. He also believes in protecting it by drawing hard lines. But he's not the king yet.”
Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams offered a broader perspective, saying Charles and William have distinctly different personalities, which can sometimes lead to conflicting views. He added that while William, Kate, and their children represent the future of the monarchy, “it is natural for the king, who is battling cancer, to want to see his grandchildren.”
The reported offer comes just weeks after Harry returned to the U.K. for Invictus Games-related events. Meghan Markle later joined him with Archie and Lilibet, giving Charles the chance to see his grandchildren for the first time in four years during a private family reunion at Highgrove.
