King Charles Extends an Olive Branch to Prince Harry Ahead of His September UK Return: Report

It has been reported that despite his snub to Harry during his last visit to the UK, the King has graciously extended a hand of reconcilation this time!

After Prince Harry’s latest visit to the UK, many wondered when the Duke of Sussex would return to Britain. It now appears that the wait won’t be long. Harry is expected to travel back in September to attend the annual WellChild Awards, which have long held a special place in Harry’s calendar, as he has served as the charity’s patron for years and has consistently celebrated the resilience of seriously ill children and their families. His attendance has remained one of the few regular commitments to continue despite his move to the United States. But it isn’t just his return that’s making headlines.

In what is being seen as a significant step toward mending their long-fractured relationship, King Charles has reportedly extended an olive branch to his younger son by offering him accommodation at Buckingham Palace during the visit, according to The Sun. The King’s warm gesture marks another hopeful sign that the father and son may finally be moving toward reconciliation after years of public strain. Furthermore, royal author Robert Jobson said Charles’ gesture was a positive sign that relations with the Sussexes were continuing to improve. And, unlike last time, sources have claimed that Harry plans to accept the fresh offer to stay at the Palace, well in advance, making this a supposedly positive step from both sides, which is seriously commendable.

Since having to vacate Frogmore Cottage, it’s clear that Meghan Markle and Harry have no permanent royal residence in the UK and therefore have relied on temporary accommodation during their joint and individual visits. This is why the King is sending an olive branch to help him out. In fact, the palace accommodation would also address the Duke of Sussex’s long-running security concerns whenever he travels to the UK. However, it still isn’t certain whether Markle and the couple’s two children will accompany Harry on the September trip.

'However, following their joyous reunion with the King earlier this summer, recent reports suggest that the Sussex family has become more open to spending time in Britain. Some commentators have also gone further, describing the accommodation offer as a meaningful symbol of reconciliation, though they have advised caution for both sides. This is because lasting healing will only depend on continued trust between them. Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for Harry have publicly commented on the reports. Even so, the invitation has fueled fresh optimism that father and son may be slowly and finally moving toward reconciliation.
