Princes George and Louis, 11 and 6, respectively along with Princess Charlotte, 9, are all "likely asking questions" about their long-absent uncle, Prince Harry, 40, and "Megxit."

This led royal expert Lydia Alty to tell GBN, "Prince Harry used to be close to his brother, Prince William. He was also very close to Prince William's wife, the Princess of Wales and their children."

There is reported friction in King Charles' royal court when it comes to Team Wales allowing Team Sussex and vice versa to see one another's children.

"Harry was even close to his father, despite reports and claims from him that he wasn’t," she added when mentioning the sometimes strained relationship between King Charles and his youngest son.

The commentator further revealed, "Now that the royals have all split up and, as far as we know, [are] not talking, this will have affected George, Charlotte and Louis. His nephews and niece will probably be wondering why they haven't seen their uncle and cousins."

This follows the Prince and Princess of Wales' wish to reportedly want to see their niece and nephew, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, but Meghan Markle has refused.

"There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the U.K.," royal scribe Tom Quinn told an outlet in April. "William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far."

Princes Harry and Andrew, and Princess Margaret, were all spares to heirs.

One "plausible theory" as to why the future king and queen could be shielding their children from Team Sussex has to do with Harry's recent rebel behavior.

Harry was the "spare" to Prince William's heir, and Prince Andrew was the then-Prince Charles's spare until the arrival of William in 1982. The so-called "spare syndrome" has long been an issue in the British monarchy, dating back to the medieval period, but its most recent occurrences started with Andrew and Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth II's spare, before him.

But William and Kate, Princess of Wales, are determined to break this dysfunctional pattern with their children.

This led royal reporter Jennie Bond to observe: "Hopefully the three of them will remain close for the rest of their lives. I’m sure William feels that even more strongly now that his own relationship with his brother has broken down. They are in a unique position as future monarch [George] and senior members of the royal family."

Kate Middleton was criticized for editing her Mother's Day photo in March 2024.

However, if the Princess of Wales has her way, her youngest children will reportedly be free to enter the career world if they so choose. There will be no firm expectation that each will have to dedicate their lives to royal engagements and duties in a supporting role.

As for their uncle and aunt across the seas, it is unknown if the trio will ever get to have a relationship with the royal rebels.
