When she was a working royal, Meghan Markle had a problem with strolling paces behind Kate, the then-Duchess of Cambridge, Camilla, the then-Duchess of Cornwall, and even the late Queen Elizabeth II.

"She didn’t want to be walking behind Catherine often during the time when they were there," royal expert Angela Levin dished.

Meghan Markle 'had a rough time' when she joined the British royal family's senior ranks.

"She would try and go first into the next room," Levin added. "The aides, some of them, would walk incredibly quickly to hold them back because they couldn’t go before Queen Elizabeth, who was alive at the time."

During the 22 months that Meghan and Prince Harry worked as senior royals, royal protocol placed the pair third in rank behind the sovereign, Elizabeth II. This meant that the Queen, then Prince Charles and Camilla, followed by Prince William and Catherine, walked before the royal rebels during processions.

Levin continued: "Being polite and understanding where you are is very important. If she had stayed, she could have been terrific with many of the things she could have done, but she couldn’t wait. She’s very impatient. She has to win, and she’s shown that with her new website."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their engagement interview photo session, November 2017.

This insight into the former actress' personality comes amid the recent launch of her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which is the latest celebrity venture to try and compete with Gwyneth Paltrow's influential Goop.

A source close to the Duchess of Sussex shared: "Meghan finds the name American Riviera Orchard perfect. It feels authentic to her. She can't wait for the website to launch."

Ever since her signing with WME in April of 2023, speculation has been leaning toward the ex-actress turning her focus back to the lifestyle/influencing sphere. The Suits star ran the successful blog The Tig before she married Prince Harry in the spring of 2018, but closed it down upon becoming the Duchess of Sussex.

"Meghan Markle's surprise launch of American Riviera Orchard, a lifestyle brand for home, food, garden, and lifestyle goods, is a fascinating venture," entertainment and royal expert Mark Boardman told an outlet. "The name might be a touch whimsical, but with hundreds of thousands of followers already, her ability to generate buzz is undeniable."

Prince Harry appears with his girlfriend, Meghan Markle, a few months after they started dating, September 2016.

But not everyone feels that the former actress-turned Duchess deserves to try and win Hollywood success.

"She has to be in the limelight," Levin observed. "She took away Harry’s spotlight on the day of his mother’s charity. He loves his mother, but he still feels they’re in connection with the heavens. He feels like Meghan has sort of replaced her. He thinks Diana would have adored Meghan, and they’d have been best friends. I don’t think that is quite right."

The author then concluded: "I think to spoil that occasion for your husband and take the limelight from him is beyond cruel."
