Meghan Markle Shares Advice That Helps Her Handle Tough Times — And It Came From Prince Harry
The Duchess of Sussex revealed the meaningful advice her husband shared years ago and why it still helps her get through difficult days.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been anything but supportive of one another throughout the years. Recently, Markle attended an event for the new show Cookie Queens, where she revealed one piece of advice from Harry that helped her through the bad days.
Markle stepped out for a special screening of Cookie Queens at AMC The Grove in Los Angeles on July 28. The documentary, centered on Girl Scouts, was executive produced by her and Harry. During a Q&A at the event, the 44-year-old was asked how she keeps herself motivated during "tough moments." She recalled a piece of advice Harry shared with her years ago that has stayed with her ever since.
She said (via PEOPLE), “I think so much of it, funny enough, I was thinking about something my husband told me ages ago, because we all go through experiences and life is full of surprises.” The Duchess continued, “But you know, he was a helicopter pilot in the British Army for 10 years. And sometimes on really hard days, we were once he said, ‘Hey, but my love, you know, even if there’s a storm happening above the storm, the sun’s always shining.’”
Markle added that Harry's advice only makes sense when you "zoom out" and look at the bigger picture. She explained, “So I think when you really zoom out and think, ‘My gosh, how many things have we gone through that have felt hard?’ And then you still get through them. Or how many goals do you think you’re not gonna hit? And then you hit them and you supersede them.”
While Markle shared the advice Harry gave her, the Prince has also spoken about the words his wife has said that have stayed with him over the years. Speaking about his 2025 U.K. visit, Harry revealed the advice from Markle that he says he still falls back on.
Harry recalled his wife telling him, "Just stick to the truth," adding that it's something he has "always" fallen back on over the years. He also shared that she believes it's "the most efficient way to live." Reflecting on her advice, Harry said, "If you think like that, who would be stupid enough to lie? It takes up too much time and effort."
The Sussexes recently traveled to the U.K. with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Markle later shared a few moments from the family trip, including a visit to Althorp, Princess Diana's childhood home.
