Bahamas Governor-General Welcomes King Charles at Garden Party Before His Guyana Departure
King Charles wraps up his Bahamas visit with a Nassau garden party & ceremonial tree planting!
King Charles has been making headlines during his visit to the Bahamas, the first stop on his 2026 Autumn Tour of the Caribbeans. The King was welcomed with open arms as he celebrated the innovation, culture, music, art, traditions, and talented youth that make the islands so unique. A key highlight of the visit was an official audience with the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, the Hon. Philip Davis. According to reports, the two shared a productive discussion about the Commonwealth and their shared interests.

After his meeting with the Prime Minister, the King made a final appearance right after to attend a garden reception party at the Government House in Nassau. To welcome His Majesty, the Governor-General of the Bahamas, Dame Cynthia Pratt, delivered a warm speech reflecting on the King's visit and his time spent with the Bahamian people in the past few days. This was followed by him completing the ceremonial planting of the national tree of the Bahamas, the Lignum Vitae, at Parliament Square, where the King showed off his expertise and well-known green thumb.

The King was pleased to view a special plaque commemorating the ceremonial planting. Charles visibly enjoyed every moment of the celebration, taking time to shake hands with several young representatives. He also engaged in warm conversations with members of community and voluntary organizations who attended the party thrown in His Majesty’s honor. Following this final appearance in the Bahamas, Charles will move on to the next stop of his Royal Tour in Guyana.

This will mark the second stop on his nine-day Caribbean tour. The visit is particularly special, as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Guyana and the United Kingdom. Following a warm welcome, His Majesty is scheduled to attend several engagements highlighting environmental protection, rainforest biodiversity, and the preservation of Guyana's natural heritage.
Reports indicate Charles will also visit the Commonwealth War Graves to honor fallen military service personnel. Additionally, the King is set to meet with the president, elected leaders, and representatives of Indigenous Amerindian communities to discuss their shared history and enduring connection with the United Kingdom. Queen Camilla is set to join him for this next leg of the tour.
