After months of push and pull, the royal soap opera seems to have finally ended on a relatively sweeter note. Prince Harry recently reunited with his father, King Charles, at the monarch’s private property, Highgrove. The Duke of Sussex was reportedly accompanied by his wife, Meghan Markle, and the catalysts behind the meeting, their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Palace had termed it a “private family occasion,” and very few details about the meeting are known. However, recent reports revealed Harry’s true feelings after the highly anticipated reunion with his father.

Harry’s friends told a source in The Times that the prince was “buoyed, very happy, and really energized” after meeting his father. He might be hoping that this was the much-needed hard refresh their relationship needed, and the Highgrove meeting could be a new start. “Every journey of a thousand miles begins with one footstep,” reports added. The Duke is also said to be in 'frequent' contact with Charles.

The linchpins behind the royal reunion were undoubtedly Archie and Lilibet, who hadn’t met their paternal grandfather in four years. The last time the siblings had crossed the pond was in 2022, for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of their late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth. That visit marked the pair’s final meeting with her, as the monarch passed away a few months later. Up until this month, that was also the last time they had met Charles. Reportedly, the 77-year-old was so eager to meet his grandkids that he was ready to mend fences with Harry and Markle.

As a doting grandfather, Charles is often seen creating special moments with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. He must have certainly been delighted to get to do the same for Archie and Lilibet. Reportedly, the children were 'very excited' to meet him. A source told Woman’s Day, “Archie and Lilibet were totally awestruck by everything they witnessed, and it has really opened the door for Harry to tell them more about their heritage and what it means to be a part of the monarchy.” They further added, “Harry and Meghan are also under no illusions that this reunion with Charles would have happened if he hadn't been so desperate to see his grandchildren.”

However, Archie and Lilibet are reportedly unaware of their royal heritage. A friend of the Sussexes told Hello!, “The truth is they don’t really have any concept about who they (the royal family) are, their parents are very good at keeping them away from it all, so they live as normal little kids.”

While time will be the best judge of whether Harry and Charles have truly reconciled, the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle, Prince William, has continued to stay away from the family reunion. When Harry returned to the UK this month, his older brother had busied himself with work and public engagements and likely hasn’t met him.
