King Charles Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Late Mother Before Key Meeting With Bahamas PM
King Charles had an audience with the Hon. Philip Davis, with whom he had an engaging conversation.
King Charles has been enjoying himself to the fullest, as the first stop on his 2026 Autumn Tour took him to the Bahamas. He was welcomed with open arms by the local dignitaries, accompanied by a ceremonial Guard of Honour that underscored the close ties between the two nations. However, the true highlight of his welcome was his short speech with a few words in Bahamian dialect. The King also paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, sharing with a warm smile, “I am delighted to be back here at Clifford Park, in which I have such happy memories of representing my mother, Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, at the Independence Day celebrations in 1973.”

The King also had the opportunity to visit the Coral Harbour Base to learn more about the Royal Bahamas Defence Force's work. This was followed by engaging visits to the Bonefish Pond National Park and the Bahamas National Boxing Academy. He even joined the crowd by busting a move at the Traditional Junkanoo Parade to celebrate the country’s culture, music, art, and creativity. However, one of the most vital parts of the King’s visit was a private meeting with the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, the Hon. Philip Davis, where they held key discussions on the future of the nation's ties.
This was one of His Majesty's final engagements in The Bahamas before moving on to Guyana—the second stop of his nine-day Caribbean tour—where he will attend several key events. Queen Camilla is also reported to be joining him for this leg of the visit. After spending a few days in Guyana, the King will then head to Antigua and Barbuda for the final leg of the tour, where he will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

As the King bids adieu to everything that makes The Bahamas so unique, his visit has proved to be a thoughtful blend of heartfelt tributes, memorable moments, cultural celebrations, and essential diplomatic engagements. Beyond the festivities, the King’s acknowledgement of the historical suffering and injustices faced by the Bahamas has served to strengthen the bonds between the two nations. Ultimately, his visit celebrated the Commonwealth's shared history, vibrant cultural diversity, and lasting global connections.
