Kate Middleton Brings Out Special Earrings With a Sweet Link to Prince William for Garter Day
Kate Middleton just recycled a special pair of earrings for Garter Day that gave a tribute to three important people in her life.
Kate Middleton and Prince William don’t usually indulge in PDA, and often restrict themselves to blink-and-you-will-miss-it moments and sweet remarks here and there. However, over the 15 years of their marriage, the beautiful couple has always found ways to express their love for each other. And the Princess of Wales just proved she is a romantic at heart, when she stepped out wearing her wedding earrings during Garter Day on Monday.
Middleton is somewhat of a walking masterclass in sartorial tributes, and her skills were on display at Windsor Castle. Pairing the special pair of earrings with a butter-yellow coat dress and a wide-brimmed hat, the style icon looked stunning as she watched the parade alongside Duchess Sophie. Apart from being a part of her special day, the custom Robert Pelham earrings carry a special memory of her parents as well.
They were gifted to Middleton by her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, for her wedding. An official press release about the 2011 wedding reportedly described the accessories as “diamond-set stylized oak leaves with a pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pavé-set diamond acorn suspended in the center”. The oak leaves and the acorns are symbols of the Middleton family’s coat of arms, which was granted to them before the wedding.
The Princess of Wales opting to wear her wedding earrings, only a few weeks after celebrating her 15th wedding anniversary, is indeed a special nod to her husband. But her Garter Day appearance this year also marked a milestone for the beloved royal. This was her 10th time attending the event. The first time she ever appeared at Garter Day was in 2008, three years before she married William at Westminster Abbey
In 2008, her style was completely different from what it is now. During her debut at Garter Day, Middleton had worn a chic black polka-dotted skirt suit with an elaborate Phillip Somerville hat. This time, the royal went much more minimalist, completing her butter-yellow ensemble with beige pumps and her iconic sapphire engagement ring. She also chose to leave her beautiful brown hair cascading down her back.
The princess’s hairstyle was reminiscent of her wedding look, and, just like on her special day, Middleton was all smiles on Monday as she greeted attendees and waved to onlookers. Her style may have changed drastically over the years, but the love she has amassed from the people endures the test of time.
