If Harry and Meghan Did Another Oprah Interview – It May Look Very Different This Time
EXCLUSIVE: A second interview with Oprah would look completely different, according to one insider.
Could Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sit down with Oprah once again? One prominent commentator is sceptical that it would happen. It was previously reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were potentially looking to sit down for another television interview. This would be to promote Harry’s charity work and Meghan's As Ever lifestyle brand.
However, The Royal Observer previously reported that celebrated television icon Oprah Winfrey is unwilling to sit down with the couple again. She famously hosted the Sussexes’ explosive 2021 sit-down interview on CBS.
Speaking exclusively to the Royal Observer, Afua Hagan – a favourite commentator amongst Harry and Meghan’s fans - told us that she remains unconvinced about the rumours, stating: “I'm not sure how much truth there is in those stories. I will say that, and I'll preface the fact that I'm not sure how true these stories are.”
In our previous reporting, insiders claimed the Duke and Duchess wanted to take time to focus on the path forward with the Royal Family. Speaking to Rob Shuter on his Naughty But Nice newsletter, an unnamed media insider revealed that the pair want to generate more attention around their newest chapter.
'If there was to be another Oprah interview … it wouldn't be another look back story.'
Previously explained: “Harry and Meghan would love a Part Two. They’re talking again because they both have projects to promote, and they know interviews generate headlines. They hoped Oprah might be interested in a fresh chapter about healing. She isn’t.”
Afua agreed, saying that if such an interview was to go ahead, it would have a new focus on reconciliation rather than past controversies as she told me: “If there was to be another Oprah interview … it wouldn't be another look back story. It wouldn't be a kind of another. ‘This is what happened’. No, no, no. It will be; ‘This is where we are now, and this is the future’.”
She added: “But again, I just don't think it's something that they would be interested in, and I don't think it's something that's slated on their table at all.”
Rather than doing another sit-down, the esteemed commentator actually does not expect that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will say anything about the highly-publicised tea they shared with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Afua claimed: “I think absolutely we will not hear about it. We won't hear about it from them. We won't hear about it from the King and Queen. Absolutely, and I hope it stays that way, genuinely.”
