Harry and Meghan Reportedly Want an Oprah Sequel — But She Isn't 'Going Back There'
A new report claims Oprah Winfrey apparently has no interest in a second sit-down with the Sussexes.
According to a new report, one of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's biggest media allies has no interest in revisiting that chapter with them. The royal couple is looking for opportunities to promote Harry’s charity work and Markle’s As Ever brand. Unfortunately, celebrated television icon Oprah Winfrey, who famously hosted the Sussexes’ explosive 2021 CBS interview, is reportedly unwilling to sit down with the couple again.
Insiders claim the Duke and Duchess want to take some time to focus on the path to reconciliation rather than controversies and grievances, but it seems Winfrey, reportedly, isn’t buying that. While discussing the development with Rob Shuter on Naughty But Nice, an unnamed media insider explained, “Harry and Meghan would love a Part Two. They’re talking again because they both have projects to promote, and they know interviews generate headlines. They hoped Oprah might be interested in a fresh chapter about healing. She isn’t.”
Winfrey recently reflected on the landmark interview and explained the thinking behind her now-famous question: asking Markle whether she had been “silent or silenced.” She stated that she asked it strictly for clarification to establish whether Markle chose not to speak or was actively prevented from talking by others. She also acknowledged just how much attention the conversation continues to receive years later. Sources who spoke to Shuter now claim Harry thinks that his recent efforts to reunite with King Charles have changed the story, while Markle really wants to work on their reputation. But Winfrey allegedly really isn’t interested in helping them out. A source close to the icon stressed, “Oprah took plenty of criticism after the first special. She has absolutely nothing to gain by stepping back into the royal drama. As far as she’s concerned, that story has been told.”
Meanwhile, another insider expressed, “She’s not going back there! If Harry wants to promote Invictus or Meghan wants to plug her jams, that’s their business. Oprah doesn’t want to become part of their publicity strategy.” Neither the Sussexes nor Winfrey has publicly commented on the latest report. If the claims are accurate, it could actually mark the end of their known friendship. With several projects still in the pipeline, all eyes will now be on who the Sussexes choose for their next major interview.
