Harry and Meghan Deny ‘Summit’ With Spice Girl Amid UK Return — Despite Their Previous Ginger Connection
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle denied the couple had a secret summit in the UK last month.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in the UK last month and used the time to reunite with King Charles and reportedly visit Princess Diana’s grave at Althorp. Now, as the pair plan to return for an extended stay, reports revealed another interesting meeting the couple had in July. Harry and Markle had reportedly met Christian Horner and Geri Halliwell-Horner at the latter’s Cotswolds property. However, a spokesperson for the Sussexes recently denied these claims.
The Mail had initially quoted sources as saying, “Meghan and Geri in particular have become increasingly friendly and have been in ever more regular contact in recent weeks. Christian has also had a number of conversations with Harry; they are friends.” The sources further mentioned, “Geri is absolutely buzzing about the relationship - and she's loving being involved from the inside in their return to UK.” Horner and Halliwell-Horner reportedly saw themselves as a 'key part' of Harry and Markle’s new friend group. However, it seems that may not have been the case.
The Sussexes’ spokesperson told Mirror that while Harry and Markle are 'great fans' of the power couple, they didn’t have any 'summit' with them and there was “no discussion about the Duke and Duchess's return to the UK”. It was also clarified that the F1 star and the former Spice Girl were not “advising” them on their comeback to the UK.
Although Harry and Markle may not have met Horner and Halliwell-Horner last month, the Duke of Sussex had met the British singer during her Ginger Spice days as a teenager. In his 2023 bombshell memoir, Spare, he detailed an awkward meeting with the Spice Girls during an event in South Africa with his father in 1997. Harry mentioned that he felt a “connection” with Halliwell-Horner, on account of their similar hair color.
“I remember stepping onto the red carpet, screwing a smile on my face, suddenly wishing I was in my bed at St James' Palace. Beside me was Baby Spice, wearing white plastic shoes with chunky twelve-inch platform heels. I fixated on those heels while she fixated on my cheeks. She kept pinching them. So chubby! So cute! Then Posh Spice surged forward and clutched my hand,” he wrote, “Further down the line I spied Ginger Spice, the only Spice with whom I felt a real connection - a fellow ginger.”
Harry and Markle are expected to cross the pond very soon as UK school terms start early next month. While no concrete accommodation plan has been revealed yet, the Cotswolds area has emerged as a leading contender. If the Sussexes do choose to stay there, they might just find themselves being neighbours with Horner and Halliwell-Horner.
