Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Set for UK Schools in Major Transition for Sussex Family
Big changes ahead for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as they prepare for a UK move and a September start at school.
The shocking news that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making their way back to the U.K. has taken the internet and social media by storm. This grand move is bound to bring a wave of major changes for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. According to several reports, it seems like the Sussex family is planning an extended stay in the country. They will reportedly live in a private, non-royal residence, maintaining a private life away from the Firm. However, King Charles was reportedly informed of the move days in advance, and according to PEOPLE, “He is said to welcome the opportunity to spend more time with the family away from the public spotlight.”
Meanwhile, this move marks one of the biggest changes in Archie and Lilibet’s lives. In fact, this will be the first time Princess Lilibet lives in her father’s homeland, having been born in California in 2021. Meanwhile, Prince Archie was born in the UK in 2019 before being brought home to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
That is not the only major transition ahead. The young prince and princess are set to start school in the UK as soon as next month, in September. This represents a significant shift, as reports previously indicated Markle's hesitation regarding a move back. However, Archie and Lilibet are now poised to experience the British school system firsthand. Even after establishing their new base in the UK, the couple reportedly plans to retain their nine-bedroom California home in Montecito's celebrity enclave.
Beyond this, the major move will mark Lilibet and Archie’s third official trip to the country, following a couple of previous visits. Their first return was in 2022, when they joined the family for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The second visit came more recently, in July 2026, when they met King Charles and Queen Camilla during a family reunion at Highgrove House.
According to reports, the decision has been made with the children’s futures, family, and community in mind. Meanwhile, another source indicated that “Prince Harry believes his family’s long-running security concerns have reached a turning point.” However, neither the Duke nor the Duchess nor their representatives have made an official comment on the security claims as of yet.
