Ex-Prince Andrew Threatened By Masked Man Near His New Home
The former prince was reportedly shaken by the incident and has been asked for a police statement.
Ever since his links with convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein were exposed, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has not been popular with the people, and the royal family has also maintained a distance from him. In a scary incident, the disgraced former prince was reportedly threatened by a man in a balaclava near his new home, Marsh Farm, on Wednesday evening. The 66-year-old had been walking his dogs at 7:30 pm local time on the Sandringham estate when a man allegedly got out of his car and charged towards Mountbatten-Windsor, while shouting at him.
The masked man reportedly sprinted towards the former prince, prompting the latter to rush to his own car, which was parked nearby, and hastily drive away. Mountbatten-Windsor was accompanied by a member of his private security detail and was apparently spotted by the man, who was sitting in his car, from about 50 yards away. After arriving at the scene, the police arrested a suspect and took him in for questioning. The officers also searched his vehicle for any sign of a weapon. Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and remains in custody,” a spokesperson for the police force said, as per The Telegraph.
The former Duke of York is said to be shaken by the incident. He and his personal protection officer have been asked for a statement by the police. There have been concerns that Mountbatten-Windsor will be more susceptible to such ambushes after moving to the rural location of Marsh Farm. This is not the first time that a scary incident has happened since his recent move. In early April, a man and a woman had scaled the exterior gate of the property and were seen standing on the wooden barriers, peering over a fence in front of the actual house. They drove off after Mountbatten-Windsor’s security detail responded to the trespassing.
Mountbatten-Windsor's relationship with the royal family has been growing distant ever since his involvement in the Epstein scandal was discovered. King Charles took away his personal allowance and private security provision in 2024. Following his arrest in February this year, the former prince was ousted from his home of 20 years, Royal Lodge. He was temporarily put up at Prince Phillip’s retirement home, Wood Farm, before being forced to vacate.
Mountbatten-Windsor had reportedly set up a mobile home outside of Marsh Farm as a temporary stay for his security personnel. Earlier this year, workers also installed CCTV cameras and a six-foot perimeter fence to ensure proper security for the disgraced royal. But it seems like that hasn’t stopped any threats directed towards him.
Reflecting on the situation, a source said, “This shows why Andrew’s security provisions need to be proportionate and properly balanced for an individual with a very high profile. Surely this demonstrates why his security should be reviewed.”
