Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, has revealed on his social media page a first look at his upcoming book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. Spencer has described the book as a deeply personal tribute to his sister, as he prepares to share more of his memories of the late royal with readers.

On his Instagram page, Spencer shared pictures of himself holding a copy of Swan Song as he opened up about recording the audiobook. He revealed that he read the book aloud over three days and, when he finished, felt that he had finally said exactly what he wanted to say. “That is exactly what I wanted and needed to say - and she would, I reckon, have approved of every word,” he wrote.

In a conversation with HELLO!, Spencer explained that the approaching 30th anniversary of Diana’s death has once again led to numerous requests for him to speak about her. Rather than give more interviews, he decided to revisit his own memories in the book. He said, “This has convinced me to write down my own thoughts and memories, once and for all, rather than having the discomfort of again reading the opinions of others, many of which are based on untruths that have become accepted over time.”

Moreover, Spencer sees Swan Song as an extension of what he tried to do in his famous eulogy at Diana’s funeral. He said, “The aim of this book is to tell the truth about Diana from her brother’s perspective, just as I attempted to do when speaking at her funeral.”

The Earl delivered an incredibly moving eulogy at Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997. In his emotional speech, he paid tribute to his late sister’s “selfless humanity” and made a heartfelt promise to protect her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
