Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly trying to get a big payout before leaving his Grade II-listed property. According to new reports, the disgraced royal is digging in his heels at Royal Lodge and has no plans to move out the front door without an eye-watering $99 million in hand. The former Prince has already lost his remaining titles, and King Charles has ordered his name ‘erased’ from the Garter and the Royal Victorian Order registers. Yet after all of this, he is still refusing to leave and is doing everything he can to tilt the standoff in his favor.

Rob Shuter detailed in his Substack that a Palace insider told him that the 65-year-old is resisting his eviction with great determination. He "is not just refusing to leave Royal Lodge; he’s practically super-gluing himself to the furniture," the source opined, suggesting that Mountbatten-Windsor has no intention of making life easy for the Palace. So, as per Shuter, before making any further moves, the former Prince wants to get compensated handsomely. "He’s telling people he wants £75,000,000 to even think about moving out," the journalist wrote. Mountbatten-Windsor is said to relocate to the King’s Sandringham Estate. However, as per Shuter, even that plan appears to come with strings attached.

Apparently, a smaller residence won’t work for the disgraced royal. As per another insider, the former Prince is aiming for obtaining a "giant six or seven-bedroom house" on the property as “replacement.” Along with this, he is also said to insist that his new living arrangements mirror the level of ‘cushioned’ life he currently enjoys. "And not just a house — he wants the whole package. A cook, a gardener, a housekeeper, a driver… basically a full-time staff to keep his life running exactly the way it runs at Royal Lodge. And of course, police protection too," Shuter's source added.

Mountbatten-Windsor is currently “staying put” at Royal Lodge as "the deal isn't done" and "negotiations are crawling in." The dispute, however, has become another thorn in King Charles’s side as he’s trying to modernize the monarchy. Earlier reports suggested that the former Prince will shift to his new residence in early 2026 to avoid an awkward run-in with the rest of the royal family during Christmas. But now, the source told Shuter that the 65-year-old "might hang on for months — maybe longer," hinting that his relocation situation could stretch well beyond January.

Despite losing all of his royal titles and privileges, the former Prince is said to be leading a normal life in Royal Lodge, much like he did earlier. "Andrew insists the staff still call him 'Your Royal Highness.' He is saying the ruling to strip him of his titles doesn't apply inside his own walls," a source exclusively told OK!. Another source also described Mountbatten-Windsor as "living in a bubble" and being "utterly deluded about his status,” suggesting that life behind the gates has changed far less for him than it has everywhere else.

The former Prince had settled into Royal Lodge in 2004. After the death of the Queen Mother in 2002, the former Prince secured a ‘cast-iron’ 75-year lease of the property in 2003. His former wife, Sarah Ferguson, later joined him in 2008, and for more than two decades, in an unusual living arrangement, the former couple shared the residence despite their 1996 divorce.
