Andrew Has No Regrets Despite His Fall From Grace, Biographer Says
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's past actions opened a can of worms that threatened to contaminate the royal family's reputation, but he reportedly doesn't feel regretful about it.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has lost his royal status, privileges and even had to move out of his home after his arrest over links to Jeffrey Epstein forced the royal family to distance themselves from the disgraced Prince. But despite all of that, he refuses to be “remorseful.” One would think that after his actions single-handedly threatened to tear down his family’s public goodwill, the criticism Andrew faced would be enough to make him regret his past choices, but that is seemingly not the case here. Royal expert, Andrew Lownie, recently revealed that the disgraced royal is “still quite cocky” and “not very remorseful”.
In his new book, Lownie mentioned that Mountbatten-Windsor and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, “brought all this on themselves. And actually, I had a contact who’s close to him, saying he’s still quite cocky, he’s not very remorseful. I mean, he is so nasty to people”. While the former Duke of York might not regret his past behavior, he is facing implications for his involvement in the Epstein scandal. Apart from his arrest, eviction from Royal Lodge and stripping of his royal titles, he is also greatly isolated from his family.
And it appears that Mountbatten-Windsor has found new hobbies after his falling out with the royal family and has immersed himself in them. He reportedly spends a lot of time watching golf or playing Call of Duty. A royal source even told Lownie that the former prince “prioritises gaming over work, health and hygiene.” Not exactly an image one would associate with a royal.
Lownie further noted that there was something particularly “sad” about the disgraced royal. “He talks about himself being a loner. And he’s always been kept apart from people. At school, he had separate accommodation because of security. He always had a separate wing on the naval bases. He didn’t drink. I think he kept himself apart, possibly because he thought he might be betrayed,” he said as per The Telegraph.
The expert further noted that, given Mountbatten-Windsor’s condition now, one would feel sorry about him, but at the same time, he has been the sole creator of all his troubles. He wrote, “There is something that is not quite there. So of course one feels sorry for him, but at the same time, he is responsible for his own actions.”
However, Lownie also added that while one may not feel that bad about the former prince, they easily could for his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who have been bearing the brunt of their parents’ actions for the past several months.
