Why Princess Kate's Latest Photo Dump May Be the Biggest Swipe at Prince Harry Yet
Princess Kate's sweet family photos may have been doing more than melting hearts — they also carry a subtle message for Prince Harry.
Princess Kate achieved a major milestone last week by completing the National Three Peaks challenge. She later shared photos of the achievement, showing Prince William, their three children, and her parents warmly welcoming her with hugs at the finish line. According to writer Katie Rosseinsky, this carefully curated display of family unity and unwavering support could be a barbed dig at Prince Harry, whose own family ties across the pond remain far more fractured.
Writing for The Independent, Rosseinsky pointed to the timing of the photos, which were conspicuously released just days before Harry's scheduled UK visit on July 7. She noted that speculation had been swirling for weeks over whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would accept King Charles's invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace. In a predictable turn of events, the BBC reported conflicting accounts, with Buckingham Palace claiming Harry had declined the invitation, while Harry's team insisted the offer was "withdrawn," calling the move "disappointing." Harry arrived in his home country today without Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, or Princess Lilibet, once again depriving Charles of a chance to see his US-based grandchildren.
Against that backdrop, even though Kate's photos were released before the public dispute over the housing arrangements, Rosseinsky believed they still carried a pointed message. As she wrote: "This bureaucratic and very public way of dealing with family drama feels worlds away from the easy rapport that emanates from the Middleton picture of togetherness, which embodies the idea of a family showing up for one another through all the highs and lows." Indeed, while Harry's family dynamics continue to fray, Kate's tight bond with both her in-laws and her own family thrives behind the scenes and in front of the cameras. Rosseinsky added, "Of course, none of this will be a coincidence, and the Middletons must surely be aware of the optics (and the fortuitous timing)."
With this in mind, Rosseinsky highlighted James Middleton's message of support for his sister after the challenge, noting how sharply it contrasted with the fractured dynamic between Harry and William. She wrote, "In joining Kate for her walking challenge, this sense of familial reciprocity can't help but feel like a stark contrast to the seething sibling enmity that seems to exist between William and Harry." His supportive note, she suggested, carried a distinct subtext: "That this is how you're supposed to talk about your sibling in public. And in the grand scheme of things, family is what is really important."
